MAN TO MAN: If a bro passed away during your hustling days, when you finally make it, please reach out to his mother and sisters and offer any help you can.
There is no better way to honour his memory.
Got home late one evening after a long Lagos day.
The kind of day that removes your last strength small small.
Cooking was not even an option.
My fridge was practically empty… just two bottles of water looking back at me.
So I ordered food.
When the delivery guy handed me the bag, I noticed his bike.
As he tried to start it, the thing was making that familiar sound… the one that tells you this bike has seen shege.
It refused once.
Refused again.
So I just said,
“Hope this bike go carry you reach house as e no wan start like this?”
He smiled.
Tired… but warm.
Then he said,
“Oga no worry… na this bike dey carry my family too.
E no get choice. E go start.”
I will not lie… that line sat quietly in my chest.
After he left, I sent a little extra to his account… even though my own account was not smiling at the time.
A few minutes later, he sent a message:
“Oga thank you. God bless you.”
No long speech.
No big moment.
Just two tired people… doing their best in this economy.
Some people are not just working.
They are carrying whole families on two wheels. 🫶🏽
No one knows you. No one has a story about who you are. No one is waiting for you to be the person you were yesterday. You're just a stranger in a chair by the window, watching a city that doesn't need anything from you.
It's the feeling that anything could happen. That the world is bigger than the walls you built around yourself back home. That the life you've been living is just one version of a life, and there are others, and they're not as far away as you thought.
At home, you're fixed. Known. You fit into a shape that other people recognize, and after a while, you forget you're even in a shape at all. But here, alone, somewhere new, the shape dissolves. You could be anyone. You could be more of yourself than you've ever been. No one is watching to see if you stay consistent.
Maguire’s resurgence will never be ignored, boo’d by the fans, stripped off his captaincy, to respond in this manner time and time again everytime he plays, im in awe
