Really excited about this collaboration with The Centre for Restoration and therapist extraordinaire @NainaShahri to bring The Survivor's Circle to life:
If you earn more than Rs.64,380 per month, you earn more than 95% of India.
That also means you hold more power than you think.
You can help someone from the bottom 10% with an amount as low as Rs.100
Here's how 👇🏻
PTSD is not adequate. Anxiety & Depression are not adequate. “Diagnoses” are just symptoms of deeper issues that usually result from interpersonal, global or societal harm. They are just EXPRESSIONS of pain and environmental stressors. This is why the DSM is bullshit.
As Israel's war on Gaza continues, Palestinians killed become mere numbers to those outside of the war. This response is known as psychic numbing. So, what limits does this put on human compassion?
To fellow therapists - The "shut off and disengage from social media" is not gonna cut it when there is a literal genocide unfolding right now. We should be deeply disturbed by it. Pain, hurt & guilt are signs of your humanity. Not something that needs to be fixed or suppressed.
It is our responsibility as therapists to deconstruct, question, acknowledge &
interrogate colonization as ONGOING violence. This violence continues to impact us all generationally. This is psychological trauma & warfare. Therapy is political AF- neutrality is a silent killer.

We would appreciate your support in ensuring that The Survivors’ Circle reaches anyone who might benefit from such a space!

Survivor's Circle is a weekly, open, trauma informed support group for student survivor-victims of sexual harm. The Centre For Restoration has been carrying out some amazing work in this area with a focus on justice, prevention, well being and community healing.
Spoke to @MythreyeeRamesh for @TheQuint about why young muslims struggle to find the right therapist and the lack of training and support available to mental health professionals to navigate the effects of historic oppression on mental health.
Young Muslim professionals share how they hesitate opening up in therapy, anticipating anticipating judgement and islamophobia. Here's what they told me. For @TheQuint.

There is *truly* no better irony than the updated DSM-5 creating a medical diagnosis for prolonged grief in a country that refuses to face it’s own present reality with mass death. AKA, “you have an illness if you can’t get on with life like the rest of us.”
This is one hour of @Puppyvedi and I nerding out about the whats, whys and hows of "emotions". We also talk about the cultural and linguistic aspects of emotional expression.
Have you wondered what emotions are? Are they physiological? Why do we feel them in our bodies?
The amazing @ahlamatra talks to @puppyvedi about why we should care about these pesky little things called emotions!
