The attention of "Atiku Is For The People" global movement, has on Friday, been drawn to a painful contradiction that defines the Presidency of Bola Tinubu.

On Thursday night, September 17, 2026, President Tinubu was photographed smiling and dining with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, at the Élysée Palace, in Paris.

At that same moment, 37 young Nigerians, consisting of many minors who should be in School, laid dead, in Minna, Niger State, after dying in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

They were arrested for alleged illegal mining activities in the State, and reportedly suffocated to death, due to overcrowding and poor ventilation.

As at Friday morning, President Tinubu had not issued a single word of condolence to the dead Nigerian children. While Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State, declared three days of mourning in the State, the Presidency only posted dinner photographs of President Tinubu enjoying himself in Paris, through Bayo Onanuga.

If President Tinubu's son was among the 37 Nigerian children that died in that overcrowded cell, would he still be dining in France? Would he still be posting photos, while families wail?

Also, would President Macron behave the same reckless way as President Tinubu, if 37 French minors had died in custody, while he was away in Nigeria? No. He would cut his trip short, return home, address the nation and order for immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. That is what serious World Leaders do. However, in Nigeria, 37 citizens are gone, and the President is toasting in Paris.

When a bag of rice costs N100,000 and families go to bed hungry, children are forced to drop out of School, and enter dangerous illegal mining business, in Niger, Zamfara and Kebbi States, just to survive. They work for peanuts, while their Sponsors, allegedly tied to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, government, make billions of dollars.

This Black Friday, in Niger State, is a failure of both economic policy and empathy.

Nigeria deserves better. It is time to vote for Atiku Abubakar, the 2027 Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, who cares about ordinary Nigerians, and will prioritise Schools over mining pits, feed the hungry, and mourn with the people, rather than dance on their graves.

37 DEAD IN CUSTODY: NIGERIAN LIVES ARE NOT DISPOSABLE, ADC TELLS TINUBU, FG
— DEMANDS FULL AND TRANSPARENT INVESTIGATION

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for an immediate, independent and transparent investigation into the deaths of 37 Nigerians in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State, declaring that the lives of poor Nigerians must not be treated as disposable.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party demanded independent autopsies, the publication of the victims’ identities and detention records, compensation for their families, and the prosecution of every official responsible for their deaths.

“Thirty-seven Nigerians entered government custody alive. Their families are now being asked to receive their bodies. This is an indictment on this government about the value of the average Nigerian life. Low income Nigerians are not disposable, and no Nigerian should lose his or her life simply because they were arrested while struggling to survive,” the party said.

The ADC expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and insisted that their arrest during raids on mining sites did not extinguish their constitutional rights to life, dignity and due process.

“We must be clear: poverty is not a capital offence. Unemployment is not a death sentence. No accusation, whatever the case, gives any government institution the right to return citizens to their families in body bags,” the party said.

According to the ADC, the incident cannot be separated from the worsening cost-of-living and unemployment crises that have pushed millions of Nigerians into desperate and dangerous means of survival.

“The same APC-led federal government that has failed to provide jobs is now criminalising the desperation created by its own policies. Food is unaffordable, transportation has become a luxury, businesses are closing and legitimate opportunities are disappearing. Yet, rather than confront these failures, the government continues to punish the victims of its failures,” the party stated.

The ADC also accused the government of arresting poor miners while failing to expose and prosecute the powerful interests behind illegal mining and the criminal networks connected to it.

“The poor are arrested for digging to survive, while the powerful men who finance illegal mining, sponsor insecurity and cart away Nigeria’s mineral wealth remain beyond the reach of the law. The Tinubu administration has made honest work scarce, survival expensive and insecurity profitable,” it said.

“President Tinubu must decide whether Nigeria’s security institutions exist to protect citizens or punish them for being poor. Nigerians need jobs, security and justice, not an economy that impoverishes them and institutions that treat their lives as disposable,” the ADC concluded.

KADUNA ATTACK: NO ONE HAS A MONOPOLY ON VIOLENCE, ADC WARNS

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the attack on its members in Kaduna State, warning that no individual, group or political party has a monopoly on non-state sanctioned violence, and that those introducing thuggery into the 2027 political process are playing a dangerous game.

In a statement signed by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, the party said the attack represented an unacceptable escalation at a time when political activities ahead of the elections are only just beginning.

“Let nobody mistake our commitment to peaceful democratic participation for weakness. No political party has a monopoly on non-state sanctioned violence. Once violence becomes an accepted instrument of political competition, nobody can predict where it ends.

“This is why the security agencies must act now. Those responsible for the attack, as well as anyone who sponsored or organised it, must be identified, arrested and prosecuted.”

The ADC expressed solidarity with its governorship candidate, Hon. Isa Ashiru, and members affected by the incident, while calling on the Kaduna State Government to guarantee the safety of opposition parties.

“Kaduna belongs to its people, not to any party. If anyone believes intimidation will frighten the ADC off the political field, they have badly miscalculated.

“We will not be intimidated. We will organise, we will campaign, and we will compete in every part of Kaduna State. The 2027 elections must be decided by ideas competing at the ballot box, not by thugs and bruises.”

I am not restoring subsidy so that Nigeria can keep paying for imported petrol. I am restoring subsidy so that Nigerians can produce more at home, pay less for fuel, and keep more money in their pockets.

That is the difference between import subsidy and production subsidy.

Think about shoes. If government wants Nigerians to buy shoes more cheaply, it can spend public money making imported shoes cheaper, or it can support shoemakers in Aba to reduce their production costs so they can make more shoes here, employ more Nigerians and sell at more affordable prices.

I choose the Aba shoemaker.

I will do the same with fuel. We will support crude refined in Nigeria so our refineries can produce at a lower cost and you can pay less.

But for me, this is bigger than fuel.

I want the bus fare you pay every morning to come down. I want the cost of taking food from the farm to the market to come down. I want the trader to spend less. I want the barber, tailor, welder and small business owner to spend less on energy.

I want a mother to return from the market with more food in her bag.

I want a father to pay transport and still have something left in his pocket.

I want a small business owner to close for the day with profit, not just enough money to buy fuel for tomorrow.

That is what affordability means to me.

Less money spent on fuel.
Less money spent on transport.
Less pressure on food prices.
More money left for your family.

My promise is personal: I want you to feel relief in your pocket, in your home and in your daily life.

ADC TO INEC: DON’T TURN PVC DELAYS IN NORTHWEST INTO VOTER SUPPRESSION

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately publish a clear nationwide timetable for the production, distribution and collection of Permanent Voter Cards, warning that no Nigerian who has successfully registered should be disenfranchised by administrative delays.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said millions of Nigerians who participated in the voter registration exercise deserve certainty about when and where their PVCs will be available.

“You cannot register Nigerians to vote and then make them run from office to office searching for the card that enables them to exercise that right. Registration without access to a PVC is disenfranchisement by another route,” the ADC said.

The party called on INEC to immediately publish, state by state, the number of newly registered voters, PVCs produced, cards distributed, outstanding cards and designated collection centres.

According to the ADC, the Commission must also intensify public information campaigns and decentralise collection wherever practicable to ensure that distance, bureaucracy and poor communication do not become barriers to participation.

“With the general election approaching, Nigerians should not be left wondering whether their cards will arrive in time. This is not a logistical footnote. It goes to the heart of the credibility of the election itself.”

The ADC said it would mobilise its structures nationwide to monitor PVC distribution and document complaints from registered voters unable to obtain their cards.

“We do not want an election-eve scramble, excuses or emergency promises. INEC has the opportunity to resolve this matter now, transparently and comprehensively.

“Every PVC that remains unnecessarily unavailable represents a citizen whose constitutional voice is at risk of being silenced. That must not be allowed to happen.”

The predicted defeat of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 Presidential election is near certain, with the worsening unfortunate politics played by his closest Ally in the South-South region, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, against the opposition.

While Nigerians are already tired of the bad administration and failed governance of President Tinubu, the activities of those around him have made his image worse, and would end up costing him the 2027 Presidential election most certainly.

The latest controversy surrounding the Minister of the FCT, has further intensified concerns about the kind of politics being played, ahead of the 2027 general elections, with those within the All Progressives Congress, APC, finding it difficult to continue to hide their disdain for his actions.

Wike recently held a malicious and insensitive Political Rally on the same day the 2027 African Democratic Congress, ADC, Vice Presidential Candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, was burying his mother, in Rivers State. The development attracted widespread criticism, with many Nigerians arguing that political differences should not override basic respect for a family mourning the loss of a loved one, especially a mother.

For many Observers, the controversy goes beyond ordinary political rivalry. The decision to hold a major Political Rally in the same Local Government Area, LGA, where Amaechi, his former Boss, was burying his mother, while reportedly blocking access roads and making it difficult for some visitors to attend the funeral, has been described by Critics in the ruling and opposition parties as politics taken way too far.

Wike was also reported to have used the occasion to attack and insult the ADC Vice Presidential Candidate, further fueling criticism that the incident was less about democratic competition, and more about personal political confrontation.

Nigerians took to the social media to express their displeasure, with many describing the development as unnecessary, and an indication of desperation, ahead of the 2027.

One of the criticisms that stood out was from a staunch APC Supporter, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, who has never said anything wrong about the APC, even when it is glaring. In a post on Facebook, he joined Nigerians to condemn the very distasteful act by Wike, warning that it may cost President Tinubu the 2027 Presidency.

His exact words: "Wike went too far and I am disappointed. For someone who made you his Chief of Staff and nominated you to become Minister in 2011, the least you could have done was allow Amaechi to mourn his mother, at least for today. Instead, you organised a rally to vilify him on the very day he buried his mother."

Success, who admitted that he is a lover of the former Rivers State Governor, could not chew this one, as he condemned the act on strong terms.

He added: "I love some side of Wike, but politics should not be played to the extreme as he does; it does not matter whether His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi made him Chief of Staff, or nominated him for Minister, we should mourn with those who mourn.

"No humanity in that rally at all.

"Wike lost more love and more support, because of this.

"The hatred the masses now have for him has tripled. I am disappointed."
