“I’m originally from Pakistan but I have been in Iran for the past 20 years. My mom and dad made a lot of sacrifices and took us to Iran. During those 20 years in Iran, my father’s dream was for us to learn Farsi in order to serve at Jalsa by translating the speeches.
My parents taught us Urdu and Farsi from a young age. Everytime we listened to the Friday sermon of Huzoor (aa) we would try our best to do a live translation of the sermon in Farsi. This was so that if we ever got an opportunity to serve the Jama’at, we would be able to do so.
This is not only the first Jalsa Salana where I have done the Farsi translation but this is also the first Jalsa Salana that I have witnessed, which is very emotional because we often saw it on MTA. In Iran, we had a very small Jama`at with only 5-6 families. During Jalsa, our families would gather to watch the Jalsa Salana proceedings on MTA. Every Jalsa, we had a dream that we would attend the next Jalsa Salana in person.
Coming here, I have seen that the Jama’at is very organized. MashAllah, every volunteer is working hard and there are lots of people from different ethnicities who are all like brothers and sisters. Just for Allah, volunteers serve from day to night, both young and old. A very emotional and nice scene!”

In the past, I did not 'understand' the meaning of Eid al-Adha. Then I came across this:
Each of us is Ibrahim. Ibrahim has 'Ismail'. So do you.
Your Ismail may be your wealth. Your Ismail may be your position. Your Ismail may be your title. Your Ismail may be your ego. Your Ismail is someone you care about.
Ibrahim was not ordered by Allah to kill Ismail. Allah asked him to kill the sense of 'ownership', because in essence, everything belongs to Allah.
