Bombing Iran in the middle of negotiations, while starving Cuba, while genociding Palestinians, while threatening to invade Greenland… the US and Israel are the single greatest threat to humanity and it’s not even close. We are all forced to live in the nightmare they create.
To use a sports analogy…
Teachers are kind of like Connor McDavid.
Pay them what they ask for and be super glad they’re on your team.
You think they’re overpaid or going to be? So what?
You gonna do that job? Me either. Bless them. They’re stars. Pay ‘em.
I stand with Alberta teachers.
Pay them properly.
Address classroom sizes.
Properly fund education.
Give them the supports that they need to do their jobs.
I stand with Alberta teachers now and every day.
Compensate our educators fairly or call an election so we can vote for people who will.
Our children deserve better.
FYI... Alberta teacher's were offered 12% over four years, which is 3% each year, not 12% in one year.
For some background... teacher's have had a 0% increase in NINE of the past 12 years. And the few years they got a raise it was 1.8% and 2%.
But their main concern isn't money. It is class size, funding for curriculum, special needs and more.
Families should be aware how much lower our education bar is in Alberta now compared to the past, due to cuts in funding and grossly oversized classrooms. This makes learning more challenging for your children or grandchildren.
Education should be one of our top priorities.
Here's a piece of literature by me, suitable for seventeen-year-olds in Alberta schools, unlike -- we are told -- The Handmaid's Tale. (Sorry, kids; your Minister of Education thinks you are stupid babies.)
John and Mary were both very, very good children. They never picked their noses or had bowel movements or zits. They grew up and married each other, and produced five perfect children without ever having sex. Although they claimed to be Christian, they paid no attention to what Jesus actually said about the poor and the Good Samaritan and forgiving your enemies and such; instead, they practised selfish rapacious capitalism, because they worshipped Ayn Rand. (Though they ignored the scene in The Fountainhead where “welcomed rape” is advocated, because who wants to dwell, and also that would have involved sex and would de facto be pornographic. Well, it kind of is, eh?) Oh, and they never died, because who wants to dwell on, you know, death and corpses and yuk? So they lived happily ever after. But while they were doing that The Handmaid’s Tale came true and Danielle Smith found herself with a nice new blue dress but no job. The end.
