I watched this interview with Norman Finkelstein and I paid attention to the way it was conducted.

I'm going to explain the strategy that Piers Morgan uses when engaging his guests about Palestine.
It's not just about constant interruptions or repeating Oct 7 and Hamas, although there is a lot of that.

Firstly, he disarms his guests by keeping things friendly and smiling at them at the start. He creates an atmosphere of congeniality or friendliness.

He assures them and regularly reminds them that it's a show where the guests can freely discuss whatever they like without fear of censorship. But as I will explain this is far from the truth.

Piers or more likely his "advisors" have devised a (calculated) strategy where at the onset of the interview (as was clearly the case with Finkelstein), he asks carefully crafted questions where he directs the conversation into a personal space, which forces his guests to respond in a way that aligns with Piers' own narrative.

Piers controls the trajectory of the interview in this way. The interview follows a predetermined path that he and his advisors plan in advance.

Let me explain that in simple terms so that it's clear for everyone.

Piers makes it personal right from the start, asking intrusive questions that aim to entrap or corner his guests.

He also sometimes reveals unexpected personal information about his guests or purposefully frames his guests in a way that makes them look like they support violence or terrorism.

His guests are taken aback. Here is this friendly host with a smile on his face who then unexpectedly stabs them in the back live on air. They are left with no choice but to go on the defensive and they often end up accepting or conforming to Piers' line of thinking, otherwise they risk appearing aggressive, uncivil or uninformed.

Piers engages in a subtle form of gaslighting, all the while maintaining a friendly demeanor.

His guests come on the show, having prepared, thinking here's what I will say and here is how I will get him, only to be cornered and driven in a direction that is set right from the start.

This is a diversionary tactic that effectively controls the whole interview, unless of course the guests see through it and change the direction consciously. Not many guests are able to rise to this challenge.

What Piers presents on his platform isn't an uncensored interview, it is a strategically choreographed performance where Piers frames and controls the narrative right from the start. Making the conversation personal, he puts his guests in a very challenging position, causing them to panic.

Having said all of that, Finkelstein did fairly well, although he too was entrapped by Piers at the start.
