@danitasteinberg In 2009, I missed a week of school from the flu. It took weeks to make up all the tests and projects I missed. In 2014, it left me bedridden for over a week.
You bet I'll always mask during the winter even without covid. And in public transportation, planes, doctor's office, etc
@GavMcCracken If it’s any consolation, we now have days where we go from 4% to 2%, instead of exclusively 2% to -2% (though we still did Friday).
Just a matter of time before they can’t do shit
@julia_doubleday "Let everyone assess their own risk" is also patently ridiculous in general:
1. Most cannot make 'informed' assessments with propaganda
2. Many underestimate the cumulative probability of tail risks (long covid)
3. Many underestimate the severity of the tail risk itself
@julia_doubleday@suchnerve I think just relying on raw fit factor also overlooks other things that may happen in practice: what if you missed a seal check that day? What if a bit of stubble undermines the seal? What if an asshole tries to touch your mask? That’s what additional layers of protection are for
@NukitToBeSure@antiviral_mktng Sure, you're protected with a fit-tested elastomeric even one-way, but the mandate mentioned in the article was KN95s. Many people would have 50-90% effective masks, where two-way masking makes a bigger impact.
@singingsox To address the other part: some people relax their precautions during periods of ‘low cases’ - and then get covid.
Since 2022, the troughs have been consistently higher than before, and by definition there are people continuously getting covid year-round.
@DarioCpx A proactive Iran is refreshing. I remember back when the US and minions jawboned the market with bullshit peace deals and Iran waited until market close to meekly deny it
@j0ssyoursalad The summer wave has been a consistent pattern for 5 years now. It has always gotten really bad around back to school. Like how do you still not know at this point
@DarioCpx The last two times I thought there would be a crude oil breakout, we got jawboned. I don’t have a lot of confidence in my gut feeling these days
@rickjeff78 I’ve seen liquidity mentioned from time to time and I don’t understand it well. How is it measured? And what are signs that it is wavering?
