I had a radically progressive female friend in college once complain that she couldn’t find a boyfriend.

Her complaint was that she wanted a lumberjack man who was a strong and confident leader but also prioritized progressive beliefs like abortion, immigration, etc.

She’s now pushing 40 and still single.

I think one of the mistakes women make in looking for a partner is believing that personality and worldview are unrelated.

Men are overwhelmingly conservative BECAUSE they are strong, confident leaders; it is not a coincidence.

Progressivism is an ideology inherently rooted in groupthink, passivity, consensus building, high emotional variability, conformity, and a lack of individual beliefs or confidence - all disastrous traits for a leader to have.

Women naturally gravitate towards the opposite of this. They strongly prefer traits such as long-term vision, concrete decision making, firmly-rooted beliefs, steadiness/few emotional swings, and, above all else, *confidence*.

This is why, despite radically different political ideologies, (most) women will still end up with a man who pays for dinner, makes and sticks to intentional plans, has a vision for his and his family’s future, isn’t easily upset, and is firm and confident in what he believes.

This is how it ought to be, and the more that people try and fight this natural dynamic the more unhappy they will be.
