Jeffrey Archer, 1940–2026
“If you make a deal with a fool, don’t be surprised when they act foolishly.”
- Jeffrey Archer, 'Only Time Will Tell'
Jeffrey Archer was a storyteller who understood ambition, power, betrayal, consequence and the strange turns of human fortune.
Nigerians who grew up reading Kane and Abel, The Prodigal Daughter, Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less and his many other works will recognise how often his fictional worlds seemed uncomfortably familiar.
Yesterday, the storyteller left the world at 86, but his stories remain; a reminder that ultimately, #legacy is what survives us.
Remarkably, his final novel, Adam & Eve, is being published today, 6 October, bringing a fifty-year writing career to a close. Adieu!
@MasterBolaji This is a good development and gradually we are making sense of our receipts, revenues, payments and expenditure. What I am seeing at play is we are trying to create a functional system out of our public accounting.
@fisayosoyombo Hmmmm…always say what you mean and ultimately you will have to defend what you said…In the beginning was the word of men and the words were emotional weather. What is the current weather forecast
@NigeriaStories We don’t seem to have a universal understanding and agreement on what poverty is. Poverty as defined by me is basic economics: Can I afford healthy food, decent clothing and meaningful shelter with conveniences? If the answer is no, I don’t need WB to tell me.
We need to thank God for the ability to measure progress on daily basis, monthly basis, quarterly basis and annual basis. Let us track our progress at individual, corporate and national levels. Let’s take stock and re strategise for Year 2024. Merry Christmas all.
