If I put my conspiracy cap on for a minute then the timing of pushing drugs into our communities by the government and creating rampant crime waves right after desegregation is pretty suspect. There was a point when people were truly integrating and the culture war wasn’t out of hand. Then over a few decades we had the government importing crack, a heroin/opiate revival and gangster rap pushing a culture of street violence.

In general, I would probably argue that more than being mismanaged desegregation, it was the gutting of the productive economy that has flattened our communities. Working class neighborhoods, black, white, and otherwise have all been absolutely torn apart by the lack of good work. Add the drug problem to that and you get neighborhoods which are completely hollowed out and full of broken families.

If you’re serious about that, that is awesome. We need more people who plan on helping when the shit goes sideways. I’ve got a stash of medical supplies that’s better than most battalion aid stations at this point. I definitely plan on helping the community as necessary. I may even do some currently, but it would put my NREMT card at risk to admit it.

The problem is that there is nowhere to hide. We either put the world back together properly or we are all fucked. Even your little mountain hideaway will be crawling with hundreds of thousands of people trying to escape urban areas. My quiet spot on the coast will be crawling with people as well.

I might even try and bug out on a boat all Waterworld style if it gets bad enough.
