If I Were AI Culture Czar…
My job would be making sure the most important technology of our generation becomes part of culture, not just computer science.
I’d spend my time:
1) Embedding artists, designers, filmmakers, musicians, architects, game designers, writers, and cultural icons alongside frontier researchers.
Identifying the highest-leverage AI use cases that make people feel more capable, more creative, and more optimistic about the future.
2) Funding ambitious creative experiments that only frontier models make possible.
Helping shape products people fall in love with, not just benchmarks engineers admire.
3) Turning research breakthroughs into experiences that millions of people actually care about.
4) Building relationships with museums, universities, studios, publishers, and cultural institutions to accelerate adoption.
5) Recruiting world-class creatives into AI labs the same way we recruit world-class researchers.
6) Ensuring every major model launch is accompanied by unforgettable demonstrations of human possibility, not just technical performance.
7) Elevating taste as a strategic advantage.
8) Helping researchers understand artists, and artists understand researchers.
9) Creating fellowships for the world’s best creators to spend time inside frontier labs.
Studying history, art, psychology, mythology, and design to understand how transformative technologies earn public trust.
10) Measuring success not only by intelligence gains, but by cultural impact.
11) Shepherding the narrative away from replacement and toward augmentation.
12) Making sure AI expands human agency, creativity, craftsmanship, and joy.
Asking one question every day: “Does this make humanity feel bigger?”
Culture is downstream of stories.
Technology changes what’s possible.
Culture decides what society embraces.
Every frontier AI lab needs a Culture Czar.
Not to make the models smarter, but to make them matter.
Put great artists, designers, filmmakers, writers, architects, musicians, and cultural builders in the room with researchers.
Translate capability into examples, shape products people love, and help steer the narrative towards empowered humans amplified by technology.
I cannot tell you how strange it feels reintegrating into city life after self isolating in a small town for 5 years.
- Dating apps
- On demand food
- Events every night
Like what the fuck was I even doing?!
Starting to think about what's next for me...
I want to join a team doing something awesome...
I'm very good at growth, sales, product, operations, and building with AI.
Can relocate anywhere in the world.
Let me know if you are working on something cool!
Today we sold Art City.
We bought the land in February 2024. Within weeks, sculptures began arriving. By June, raw desert had become a sculpture park and glamping destination.
Less than two years later, Art City was named one of TIME’s 100 Greatest Places in the World.
Now it’s in the hands of a new custodian who will continue creating art, experiences, and economic value for Tucumcari.
The mission hasn’t changed: revive small towns, make big art, and create lasting economic impact.
Grateful for this chapter. Huge thank you to everyone who made this experience possible. Excited for what’s next.
The American Dream is not about becoming rich.
The American Dream is building a life where ambition, love, freedom, and meaning can coexist without one consuming the others.
