URGENT PRAYER REQUEST: I am in Moneta (near Roanoke), Virginia, to preach the 20th church anniversary of Troy Keaton and the Eastlake Community Church. The service was in a tent on campus, with close to 1,000 attendees. Ten minutes into the service, a sudden, severe weather event pulled the support poles out of the ground and blew the tent off. One of the elders of the church went to be with Jesus, and several others were seriously injured. Please pray for Pastor Troy, Eastlake Church, and this community - that the hope of our risen Savior would be theirs in abundance during this crisis.
Richard Childress Racing has elected to suspend use of the No. 8 and will run the No. 33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and beyond. Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR’s stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the NASCAR industry. No one can carry it forward to the level that he did. The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing.
We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport's greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.
A message to my fellow Southern Baptists. We need to get this done and move forward together. I propose an amendment to preserve our unity in truth. https://t.co/51wbtoJoMT
"Making blasphemy great again is not going to go well for anyone—neither for President Trump nor for those who defend his outrageous irreverence." — @DennyBurk https://t.co/QJenVQtaoL
I’m not sure whether the President’s bellicose rhetoric will actually lead to action, and I sincerely hope it does not, at least in its current framing. To me, it comes across more as bluster—a threat meant to extract concessions. Even so, it’s a morally reckless statement that stands in clear opposition to the Just War Tradition. By now, we should recognize that such remarks are often made to provoke and capture attention, but that doesn’t excuse them, either. It is unacceptable for a President to speak in this manner.
This is a really disgusting comment, and beneath even the rhetoric we have come to expect from President Trump. The murder of human beings is no occasion for narcissism.
