@richlundt@DouglasFir33@dannykanell lol i thought they were too 😂. No matter how far you expand there’s gonna be bubble controversy. 16 wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world but 24 seems crazy to me
@richlundt@DouglasFir33@dannykanell Alabama got in because they had the same record at the end of the regular season with better SOS. If you boot them for an SECCG loss then teams would have to start thinking about opting out of conference championship games. But don’t worry ND rigged it going forward.
@Manning4USCong@dannykanell It’s also popular because every game matters. MLB and NBA ratings shoot through the roof in their playoff, because no single regular season game matters that much. I don’t want every SEC/Big10 team to get 3 free losses. 24 is too far, 12 hasn’t been bad for the sport yet though.
@aeisberg@dannykanell It’s not that ridiculous. Other leagues see a huge increase in ratings from regular season to playoffs because they’ve made their regular season matter less by including more teams in the playoffs. “Do or die” is more exciting than a battle over seeding.
@Manning4USCong@dannykanell At 12 teams we are already including several teams that aren’t real title contenders. Are you old enough to remember bowl season too? That’s how good seasons should be rewarded. Not by pretending by they deserve to play for a national championship.
@DouglasFir33@dannykanell You think the playoff should expand and bring in worse teams than Bama last year? That’s what will happen. I know Alabama wasn’t great last year. With the 12 team model Bama can lose three times and still make it. You want to see a 4 loss Bama make it? I don’t.
