The #ClimateChange Indicators symposium is back from lunch! 🥗
Chief Deputy Director David Edwards (@OEHHA) moderates a presentation + panel discussion featuring state agency partners reviewing new science and data ➡ https://t.co/q5XQ8iMyq7.
"We're very adaptable people," said Big Valley Rancheria of Pomo Indians Tribal Elder + Tribal Historic Preservation Officer Ron Montez Sr.
"We've been adapting for thousands of years. Until you see landscapes through native eyes, you won't know how to deal with what is there."
"#ClimateChange affects all of us so dramatically. [Tribes] are on the front lines," said Middletown Rancheria of Pomo Indians Tribal Chairman Jose (Moke) Simon III.
"We will continue to survive. #Sustainability is not just something you talk about."
@OEHHA@CalEPASecretary "It is unequivocal that human influence has warmed the atmosphere, ocean + land," @chrfield (@StanfordWoods).
"Opportunities are way up. There is no question we have the technical tools at our disposal to solve the problem. Adaptation is mostly about building a better world."
@OEHHA "I want to thank those tribal members in attendance today for their continued partnership," said @CalEPASecretary.
"The tribes' long histories of interacting w/ the Earth since time immemorial helps advance our understanding of #climatechange + inform our policies + actions."
Director Zeise (@OEHHA) welcomed attendees, "Many of us can remember a moment that made #ClimateChange personal. When OEHHA started tracking indicators, there was still a question of whether climate change had a measurable impact on California. Today, there is no question."
