The anxious majority prioritizes safety and settles for mediocrity to avoid loss, while builders prioritize potential and fear the regret of unrealized futures.
@bcherny Why are you surprised? Do you ever get blown away by things Claude can do that you didn't think it could? Even though you are the engineer building it.
I have to hand it to the pure nerve of modern American campaigning.
Quite the pitch, promising to hand out $1.35 trillion we don't have, but 1st, voters put Repubs in charge.
Normally, we’d call that bribery.
But in the land of the free, I guess it’s just SmArT campaigning.

Governor Abbott,
Government should never discriminate against any religion—but neither should it mistake reasonable accommodation for religious favoritism.
A small ablution facility, paid for by private individuals, is no more an “establishment of religion” than nursing rooms are an establishment of parenthood, kosher meal options an establishment of Judaism, vegetarian options an establishment of vegetarianism, or accessible restroom facilities an establishment of disability. They are practical accommodations that allow ordinary citizens to use public facilities safely and with dignity.
And in this case, any traveler, of any faith, could use the facility to wash their feet—something, I suspect, quite a few weary travelers would appreciate.
Muslims are not asking airports to endorse Islam. They are asking for the same principle that has long guided our nation: people of different faiths should be able to practice their sincerely held beliefs while participating fully in public life.
As Texans, we all benefit when our public institutions are welcoming to everyone. Protecting the religious liberty of one community strengthens the religious liberty of every community.
There is no “Shariah takeover” of Texas. It is deeply disappointing to see you amplify this false trope about your Muslim constituents in order to appeal to anti-Muslim sentiment. The closest thing we have to a Muslim takeover of the Lone Star State is the proliferation of shawarma and falafel shops—along with a few truly outstanding halal Texas BBQ joints. Any time you would like to actually talk to your Muslim constituents, I would be happy to meet you over some meat at any one of them.
What makes this episode especially ironic is the glaring double standard. In 2017, you signed legislation restricting Texas governmental entities from contracting with companies that boycott Israel. In other words, Texas has been willing to condition access to government contracts on a company's commercial conduct toward one particular foreign country. Yet a privately funded facility designed to accommodate the religious practices of some Texas citizens is suddenly portrayed as impermissible religious favoritism.
Why the radically different standards? Why is accommodating the religious needs of Muslim Texans treated with suspicion, while the State of Israel has been afforded extraordinary statutory protection?
Governor Abbott, this latest manufactured controversy—and the continued willingness to use Muslims as a political foil—may well serve short-term political purposes. But elections are not the final measure of public leadership. Eventually, all of us will return to our Lord and be judged by Him. And history has an uncanny ability to revisit the moral failures that politics once rewarded.
Do you really wish to be remembered as the George Wallace of our time?
I am a proud Texan, Governor Abbott. I was born here. I studied here. I graduated from here. I married here. I work here, I live here, and I pay my taxes here. Texas is my home.
I respect the office you hold. But your repeated willingness to malign and marginalize your Muslim constituents has, sadly, caused me to lose my respect for the man who holds it.
UFC 330 fight prediction and analysis:
While Garry is long and rangy, Makhachev has a flawless record against tall fighters. He ran right through Dan Hooker (who has an identical 6'3" frame to Garry) and suffocated the size and power of former welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena over 25 minutes.
IMO, once Islam Makhachev gets his hands locked around an opponent, the mechanics change completely. Garry mostly relies on an insistent right-side overhook in the clinch. Makhachev specializes in a dominant left-side underhook, using it to seamlessly transition into body locks, single-legs, or devastating upper-body trips.
As we all know, Islam Makhachev is a patient UFC fighter, defensively sound counter-striker who stays long and relies heavily on his left body kick. He uses calculated pressure rather than reckless lunging, wait-and-see patience, and timing to force opponents into the clinch.
Islam Makhachev (-340) has a high fight IQ and always a stifling, multi-layered game plan.
How the Fight Plays Out
[Round 1: Striking Range] ➔ Garry uses lateral footwork and straight jabs to find his distance.
↓
[Round 2: The Pressure] ➔ Makhachev times a body kick or counter, forcing Garry to the fence.
↓
[Round 3: The Clinch] ➔ Makhachev secures underhooks, dragging the taller man to the canvas.
↓
[Round 4/5: Breaking Point]
➔ Makhachev establishes top control, draining Garry's cardio to secure a win.
The fight will likely be a high-stakes chess match early on. Garry's fresh, low-damage style and length mean he will look incredibly sharp in the opening frame, potentially scoring with clean counters at range. However, Garry's lone career defeat came in a 5-round title eliminator against Shavkat Rakhmonov, another master grappler who exposed windows in Ian Garry’s defensive wrestling.
Makhachev's chain-wrestling is even more suffocating. Once the IFC welterweight champion forces the fight into a grinding clinch battle along the cage, Garry will be forced to carry Makhachev's weight. As the rounds progress into the deep waters, Makhachev's relentless top-control and mat returns will slowly sap Garry’s explosive movement.
My prediction:
Expect Islam Makhachev to win via Unanimous Decision or Late-Round Submission. Garry's grappling has improved, and his frame allows him to survive early danger, but Makhachev's championship pacing, veteran experience, and elite grappling chain will take him to the deep waters and make him tired and ultimately prove too much to overcome over 5 rounds.
Hey CNN @CNN do yourself a favor, and stop bringing Moynihan on. She doesn't add any value to the political discourse and lacks the IQ and EQ to discuss topics without showing blind political biases.
Moynihan: Mamdani fixed only one drinking fountain! And that’s because someone tagged him on Instagram to do it. A functioning government doesn’t need someone to be tagged on Instagram!
@nicksortor@BillMelugin_ Misleading. This is a city north of Morocco in Moroccan territory under Spain oversight. Maybe it is time for spain to give this occupied city back to Morocco.
The hypocrisy from the ultimate corporate welfare queen is staggering.
You have the audacity to call Mayor Zohran Mamdani a "taker" while sitting on a mountain of at least $38 billion in public handouts, government contracts, and state subsidies that literally saved your empire from bankruptcy.
If the American taxpayer didn't bail out Tesla with a $465 million federal lifeline loan in 2010, fund SpaceX with over $22 billion in state contracts and NASA grants, and hand you $11.4 billion just for selling government-mandated regulatory credits, you wouldn't be a "maker", you'd be broke. You didn't build your trillion-dollar status on rugged capitalism; you built it by masterfully milking the public system and sucking liquidity from the government.
Projecting your own absolute reliance on corporate socialism onto a public servant who actually fights for regular people is the most pathetic double standard imaginable. Taxpayers built your wealth, Elon, so sit down and stop biting the hand that feeds you.
A heroic defeat is often more memorable than a routine victory.
From underdogs to history-makers! 🇨🇻
Argentina may have taken the win, but Cape Verde absolutely stole our hearts today!
Pushing the reigning world champions to the absolute brink in extra time, matching them goal-for-goal, and never backing down.
What a legendary performance!
You fought against all odds, left everything on the pitch, and made the whole world believe! Tiny nation, GIANT heart. The Blue Sharks have earned the respect of the entire globe. 🌍👏

The irony of Karp attacking Anthropic is deafening.
Anthropic has spent years building actual market goodwill through their Public Benefit Corporation structure and a focus on "Constitutional AI", a deliberate commitment to safety and transparency.
Palantir, meanwhile, carries the weight of a surveillance-heavy history and a reputation for being an extension of the state. Karp isn't mad because the "frontier" labs are doing it wrong; he’s mad because they’re doing it with a level of ethical legitimacy he can’t replicate. You can't claim "sovereign" moral high ground while running a smear campaign against the researchers actually solving the alignment problem.
