Hi, friends! We’re reaching out to ask for help for our dear friend @bewithshuu, whose house was severely damaged by Typhoon Uwan.
Any amount of support would truly mean a lot. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity, Caratdeul!🤍

since recorded history, the Philippines has always been hit by storms and typhoons. it’s simply part of our geography and thats just our normal reality. what SHOULDN'T be normal is how unprepared we still are after all the multitude of weather disturbances the country has faced throughout the decades. the government should've treated flood control/storm-proofing our towns, cities and infrastructures as a national priority a long time ago. instead of quick fixes or short-term projects [panakip butas], the public need real investments in proper drainage systems, floodways, dikes, and sustainable city planning that could actually protect and benefit the people.
now our people continue to deal with the mess and aftermath every year. it's truly depressing to see how funds (each peso that most Filipinos struggled to make) meant for these projects often ends up wasted on these “ghost” flood control programs and pocketed by these shameless corrupt officials. PEOPLE KEEP LOSING HOMES, LIVELIHOODS AND LOVED ONES EVERY TYPHOON SEASON and it’s sadly the same story every single damn year.
if our government had just taken action decades ago, committed to long-term plans and have passed laws to guarantee that taxpayers’ hard-earned money was used the right way. the Philippines could already be a much safer and more RESILIENT country.
a country where we no longer fear every single storm that comes our way, where safety isn't a privilege and where resilience doesn't have to always mean constant survival.
The government has proven how unreliable they are. Kung hindi pa kayo galit, bakit?
FILIPINOS NEED ACCOUNTABILITY!! Stop romanticizing their resiliency.
hi, not booktwt related, but please pray for the philippines. we are facing a strong typhoon rn. and this could have been prevented if NOT for those corrupt politicians and bussinessmen.
Our hearts go out to all the strays 💔 Please please shelter strays when you can.
We already know there’s a typhoon coming so please do not cage or leash your pets.
