💢 BREAKING: Drones struck Saudi Aramco’s Abqaiq crude-processing facility, the kingdom’s largest, with satellite imagery indicating potential damage to multiple processing units.

Abqaiq stabilizes the bulk of Saudi crude before export, making it one of the most critical nodes in the kingdom’s oil infrastructure. It was also the target of the September 2019 drone and missile attack that briefly cut roughly 5% of global oil supply, causing a major shock in oil prices.

OSINT account Egypt’s Intel Observer, citing Sentinel-2 imagery, reported burn scars across four of Abqaiq’s six crude-processing spheroids, two appearing destroyed, with firefighting foam visible on one. Other monitors indicate that the imagery is inconclusive regarding the extent of any damage. The battle-damage assessment is preliminary.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry confirmed the attack, attributing it to Iran-backed militias operating in Iraq and reaffirming its right to “respond to the sources of the attacks.”

Ansar Allah spokesman Yahya Saree claimed the attack, saying the Yemeni group’s drones hit crude supply and transport points on the eastern Saudi–Yanbu route in retaliation for Saudi breach of Yemeni airspace. The competing claims are unverified.
