Justice denied is a body blow to our national psyche. On trial was not only a killer, but a system that continues to kill.
Today that system defeated true justice, once again. But mark these words: We will never stop fighting for what is right and just.
I have no new takes, no new analyses, nothing new to say. Today is a reminder that the structure produces outcomes like this as a matter of practice.
And the structure can be uprooted and done differently. That’s the work I’m here to do.
protests against racism and state violence in this country were already dangerous before Rittenhouse, now they're going to be extremely treacherous for demonstrators if folk wanting to "defend property" can kill folks and get away with it

y’all, pls don’t let “ungendered” be another term to lose its meaning through twitter/pop sociology/gender studies. please read “mama’s baby, papa’s maybe” by spillers.
these words and this language is too important to just toss around.
55 years ago today, we were beaten, tear gassed, and trampled by horses. I thought I saw death. I thought I was going to die. I don't know how I made it back, but I know we cannot rest. We cannot become weary. We must keep pushing and pulling and find a way to get in the way.
Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Do not become bitter or hostile. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. We will find a way to make a way out of no way. #goodtrouble
i’m in this episode of @TheGrapevineTV talking about abolition (as a whole) and a little bit about restorative justice with a bunch of other brilliant minds! tap in:
My eyes move involuntarily, each one swinging to its own music. They’ve danced this way for as long as I can remember. I can’t see it myself, but the jeering kids let me know. The adults nudging me to wear sunglasses let me know. And trolls certainly let me know. Thread 1/5
If you wanted to introduce your friends and family to the histories of environmental racism in the United States, which readings would you suggest and why? I’m asking for all of our friends, families and communities.
"Taken together, books about white children, talking bears, trucks, monsters, potatoes, etc. represent nearly three quarters (71%) of children's and young adult books published in 2019." - @madctyner
@JoeBiden What is wrong with you? Police are abusing and murdering people and you want to give them MORE money? Did you just give up or do you not understand what defunding the police means? You and your policies have not been and still are not safe.
So much of history has been whitewashed for the sake of making it palatable for white consumption that we are starting to perpetuate things that are not only misconceptions, but outright lies.
A lot of what you're told about protests, MLK, etc. is wrong.
A thread.
