Europe’s message is clear: stronger sanctions, no impunity.
We will continue raising the cost until the Russia understands that aggression does not pay.
Looking forward to a comprehensive sanctions package without delay.
The Nordic-Baltic countries remain united in their support for Ukraine and their commitment to a just and lasting peace.
"Our aim is to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace, based on international law and the UN Charter. We will work to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position to achieve that and to increase pressure on Russia to agree to a full, unconditional and immediate ceasefire to engage in meaningful negotiations."
Joint statement by the Nordic-Baltic Prime Ministers at the #NB8 Summit in Tallinn.

“Russia started this war, Russia continues to wage it, and Russia could end it today simply by withdrawing its troops and respecting Ukraine’s sovereignty. The full responsibility lies with the aggressor.”
— Kaja Kallas
I completely agree with this statement.
There used to be a time when my role on many panels was to convince everyone Russia is a serious threat, but I don't feel I have to do it anymore.

somehow made it through one of the hardest weeks of my life… the kind that really takes something out of you. There’s been a lot of loss, a lot to carry, more than I even know how to put into words yet.
I’m just… very, very grateful. To my people who stayed close, who checked in, who didn’t disappear when things got heavy. You kept me grounded when my head was everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
You know who you are. ❤️

Good news on the €90 billion loan for Ukraine. We are delivering on our promises.
But we must keep the pace. Peace will not come from compromises with the aggressor. It comes from strength. And this support helps Ukraine hold the line.
The 20th sanctions package is done. Work on the next ones is already under way. Pressure stays.
Behind me, you can see 20,000 teddy bears—each one representing a Ukrainian child who has been kidnapped and abducted by Russia, the Russian Federation, by Putin. In red, there will be a large sign clearly stating: “Putin abducted 20,000 Ukrainian children. Bring kids back.”
All of this is part of a large installation that will be presented this Thursday, April 23, at 1:00 PM, and will help people grasp the scale of how many children we are talking about.
Right now, I’m on site where everything is being put together and prepared for this installation. You can see volunteers from Razom for Ukraine (@razomforukraine) placing the teddy bears on the fence to create this powerful display—showing that each teddy bear represents one child.
Ukraine has secured their €90 billion loan from the European Union after Hungary finally dropped their veto. It is still raining oil in Tuapse as their refinery has been on fire for over a week now. More and more Russians are taking to social media to speak out against Putin and his government for corruption and the poor economy.

Deadlock over. The EU just cleared the way for the €90-billion-loan for Ukraine and the 20th sanctions package.
Russia’s war economy is under growing strain, while Ukraine is getting a major boost.
We will provide Ukraine what it needs to hold its ground, until Putin understands his war leads nowhere.
📝 My last trip to Ukraine & all latest data points from the frontline are showing that Ukrainian Tech is clearly winning!
Ukraine's drones have been showing growing success on the frontline - removing more soldiers than the enemy can add to their army. One of the latest examples: Azov published a video just a week ago showing how Ukraine got the Hornet midstrike drone to fly in Donetsk city. And there are daily examples of real success in hitting the enemy deep in the rear. Even Russian bloggers are whining more often about Ukraine's drone dominance.
To be clear, Hornet is built by Eric Schmidt’s defence team. And this is by far the most successful foreign defence startup that has DAILY real impact on the Ukrainian frontline. Their other products - FPV Bumblebee & Merops interceptors - are also in the top 3 in their categories and used in growing numbers. Instead of PR & legal teams, they have invested heavily in building real products.
⚡ Ukraine also has a very important success in EW - their Lima system upgrade has been effectively jamming/spoofing the Russians' Kometa CRPAs. Those systems are part of the very dangerous gliding KAB bombs. This has made KABs ineffective across a wide front. As usual - the enemy will definitely upgrade their systems in the next few months, which could restore effectiveness.
🤖 One of the biggest trends in recent months is the use of UGVs. And this is not only logistics and evacuation, but also fully autonomous attacks & taking enemy prisoners. Brigadier General Andriy Biletskyi, commander of Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps, has argued that units actively integrating UGVs could reduce frontline infantry needs by up to 30% by the end of 2026, and up to 80% in the future. And this is the most critical factor for Ukraine - which has well-known manpower issues.
🚀There are growing frontline areas where unmanned forces are not only attacking the enemy but also defending their own land. There is still some infantry, but this is all connected under unmanned unit commanders. And those experiments have been highly successful so far. So we have reached the moment where robots and humans are fighting together. Where robots are making 1 human soldier 5 - 10 times more powerful against the enemy.
💪 Ukraine's drone winning streak has also clearly been improving morale. My good friend told me he recently got a call from a man who until now had been avoiding mobilization. But now he had enough hiding and asked what unit to join, where he could be more effective, and where he had a higher chance of staying alive. And his 21-year-old relative also voluntarily joined a drone unit just a few weeks ago. And showed very fast high results.
At the same time - Ukraine seems to have hit some sort of ceiling in engineering capacity. Many big defence companies are short of developers, so most integration projects are moving slowly. It also seems the number of new projects and defence startups has started to decrease in Ukraine. But this is now the opposite in the European Union, which has been waking up. We have recently seen a record number of promising defence startups by EU founders whose products could have a big impact in Ukraine. In absolute numbers, Germany is leading here. And frankly, one of the biggest sources is the European defence hackathons that have started producing real companies.
Bootcamp 6 was by far the most intensive, where one founder got connected with a whopping 35 different Ukrainian military units. Another company CEO told me today his mobile is full of chats with different units that are all lined up to get his product into combat ASAP.
Let me be clear - there are zero real signs that the war could end this year. But Ukraine has a clear recipe for how to hold the line & bring victory home in 2027. And this will heavily depend on Ukraine's Defence Minister Fedorov's team’s rapid reforms, the Magyar Unmanned Systems Forces' team execution, and scaling proven success models - Azov, Khartia & 3rd Corps - across the Ukrainian army.
We will be back in Ukraine in the summer with the next edition.
🇮🇹 The speech that all of Italy heard. And that the world must hear.
In a country that will host the Olympic Games, Italian Senator and Vice President of the Human Rights Commission Filippo Sensi took the floor and said what should have been said out loud long ago.
He called it a disgrace that the International Olympic Committee disqualified Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych.
Not for doping.
Not for violating fair play.
But for… memory.
For a helmet bearing the faces of Ukrainian athletes — his friends, colleagues, champions — killed by Russia.
The IOC stated that the helmet “did not comply with regulations.”
And then Sensi asked a question that brought silence to the chamber:
Does aggressive war comply with regulations?
Is there a separate technical protocol for it?
The correct angle of a missile strike?
The permissible size of a crater?
An athlete prepares for the Olympics for years.
A Ukrainian athlete trains between air raid sirens, in shelters, under news of the dead.
He overcomes fear, exhaustion, and loss.
And he steps to the start line not only for a medal — but for the right to exist.
And he is suspended… for remembering.
Because memory is the most dangerous substance. It is hard to add to a prohibited list. But apparently, someone would very much like to.
The senator named names. Just a few among more than 650 Ukrainian athletes killed by Russia:
▪️ Yevhenii Malyshev, 19, biathlete — killed in Kharkiv.
▪️ Mariia Lebid, 15 — missile strike in Dnipro.
▪️ Dmytro Sharpar, 25, figure skater — killed in Bakhmut.
▪️ Volodymyr Androsiuk, 22, track and field athlete — also Bakhmut.
▪️ Daria Kurdel, 20 — missile strike in Kharkiv.
▪️ Alina Perehutova, 14 — standing in line for water with her mother in Mariupol.
▪️ Maksym Halinichev, 22, boxer — killed defending Luhansk region.
▪️ Viktoriia Ivashko, 9, judoka — missile strike in Kyiv.
▪️ Kateryna Diachenko, 11, gymnast — airstrike on Mariupol.
▪️ Karina Bakur, 17, world kickboxing champion — shielded her father with her body.
These were the faces Heraskevych wanted to carry with him to the start line.
So that they would “compete” alongside him.
So that their dream would not die with them.
And for that, he was punished.
Because it turns out that the faces of murdered athletes violate regulations.
But their absence on the track does not.
In his speech, Sensi said the most important thing:
The Olympic Committee did not lose an athlete.
It lost its most valuable medal — its conscience.
Sport without memory is just a show.
Sport without humanity is just decoration.
Sport that fears truth is not about peace.
The Olympic movement was born from the ideals of honor, dignity, and unity.
Yet today Ukrainian athletes must prove not only their strength — but their right to remember their fallen.
And if memory becomes a violation of regulations — then the problem is not the helmet.
The world must hear this.
Because silence is also a position.
And indifference is also a choice.
Memory cannot be disqualified.
And conscience cannot be added to a prohibited list.
🇺🇦 We remember every one of them.
And we will not allow their names to be erased.
