Fresh off the desk: my recent scouting report on Sondre Granaas, Molde’s 20-year-old number ten.
Imagine a creator who also tackles like a bloodhound. There he is 🧵
Sondre Granaas has the profile of a No.10 who presses first and plays forward quickly, so I looked at where that actually fits.
🇳🇱 PSV: Peter Bosz’s front-foot pressing rewards a counter-pressing ten, and Granaas offers the long-term answer to a number ten who is increasingly being used as a forward.
🇩🇪 Eintracht Frankfurt: a strong option for the No.8 role. Hütter’s vertical, transition-heavy football suits his forward passing and ball-winning, and the double pivot behind him frees him to arrive higher up the pitch.
🇧🇪 Club Brugge: a younger, more aggressive version of the creative role Vanaken and Vetlesen share, in a side built on pressing and forward play.
🏴 Swansea: a creative slot that is genuinely open, with weekly senior minutes and a route upwards.
@ManuVaquero_ Arriving in the box from left back at 17 is the bit I’d want to see more of. One of the rare examples of top-down tactical trends.
In his case, is the timing coming from reading the play, or is it mostly team's approach?
@SerbFootyScout@meridiansportrs That kind of constant contact with players and their clubs could help with availability too, which he says cost them at the U19s. Useful before a home tournament!
Where he fits: Sunderland and Cagliari as academy-level pathways, Getafe as the most direct system for a target-man poacher, and Wrexham as the quickest route to real senior minutes.
A direct, transition-based side with width on each flank is his natural home.
