According to the NFSC, Hunter Biden-related materials were publicly released through GTV/GNews before the New York Post’s October 14, 2020 reporting. The New York Post later published the first mainstream news story, followed by Miranda Devine’s opinion column and subsequent bestselling books.

In 2026, Hunter Biden publicly linked Steve Bannon, Miles Guo, GTV, and the “Laptop from Hell” narrative, alleging they helped spread damaging material about him. Miranda Devine rejected those claims, maintaining that the New York Post was first to publish the verified laptop story and alleging that GNews mixed authentic material with fabricated images.

The dispute is no longer about whether the laptop story existed—it is about who exposed it first, who shaped the public narrative, and how that history should be remembered.

SDNY prosecutors claimed Miles Guo created a fraud scheme because he was desperate for money after the CCP seized his assets in 2018. But that narrative collapses under one simple question:

If Miles Guo wanted money, why didn’t he take the easiest path?

He could have stopped exposing the CCP.
He could have ended his livestreams and tweets.
He could have cut a deal with Beijing.
He could have protected his family, his companies, and billions in assets.

That was the road back to money.

In 2015⚡️, shortly after Guo fled Hong Kong, Beijing used false charges as a pretext to seize Guo’s companies’ assets, official seals, and accounts. The CCP special case team seized large amounts of his company assets and cash in China. The total domestic assets and cash seized reportedly reached RMB 120 billion, or about US$19 billion, disrupting normal business operations and causing daily losses of RMB 10 million to RMB 12 million.

That seizure was not just financial destruction. It was leverage.

Beijing was sending a message: we control your wealth, your companies, your family, and your future. Come back. Go silent. Obey.

But the pressure failed.

When Guo began public whistleblowing in 2017⚡️, Beijing escalated. It brought additional fabricated charges against him, froze bank accounts linked to his family, and intensified the pressure campaign that had already begun.

Trial exhibits DX40017-T, DX40019-T, DX40021-T, DX40024-T, DX40037-T, DX40052-T, and DX40053-T record May 2017 phone calls between Guo and Liu Yanping, a senior official from China’s Ministry of State Security. In those calls, Liu pressured Guo to stop his public exposure campaign and return to China as part of the CCP’s Fox Hunt operation.

In other words, Beijing gave him a choice: Silence, surrender, money, and family safety. Or truth, resistance, asset seizure, and punishment.

Guo chose the second path.

The CCP then escalated again. In October 2018⚡️, a Dalian court imposed a RMB 60 billion fine on companies under Guo’s name on the charge of “forced transaction,” one of the largest fines in Chinese history. The court also confiscated another RMB 18 billion in invested shares. Together, the fine and confiscated assets totaled more than RMB 78 billion, or approximately US$13 billion.

Pangu Plaza, valued at about RMB 60 billion, was forcibly auctioned for only RMB 5 billion. Courts in Dalian and Beijing also confiscated 65 properties belonging to his family members and colleagues, forcing them out of their homes.

The CCP also seized or froze major assets linked to Guo’s family in Hong Kong and overseas, including US$1 billion in Hong Kong and US$260 million in family accounts in 2018⚡️.

That matters because asset loss does not prove fraud. It proves pressure.

And in Guo’s case, the pressure did not stop at China’s borders. It came from the same regime he was exposing, and from the CCP’s hidden influence network in America.

Media outlets used Beijing’s own legal charges against Guo to frame him as a criminal. Big Tech platforms such as Facebook, Twitter/X, YouTube, Google, and Apple censored, restricted, or deplatformed Guo and his followers, shielding Beijing’s interests and blocking America’s ability to hear the other side.

Simultaneously, Beijing’s pressure campaign moved into Washington. According to evidence obtained in the case, the CCP and its allies spent over $100 million influencing powerful political figures, lobbyists, and officials, including Elliott Broidy, Steve Wynn, Pras Michel, Nickie Mali Lum Davis, and DOJ official George Higginbotham, in a back-channel effort to pressure the White House to send Miles Guo back to China. A man whose only goal was money would have taken Beijing’s deal. He would not have stood against what seemed like the entire world.
A man desperate to protect his lifestyle would have gone silent.
A man desperate to save his fortune would have stopped fighting.

Guo did not.

He chose exposure over wealth. Resistance over comfort. Truth over surrender.

That is why SDNY’s “desperate for money” narrative is not just incomplete and misleading. It hides the larger story.

The CCP’s hunt began in 2015, but it failed to stop Guo. The 2017 Fox Hunt pressure failed again. The 2018 Hong Kong seizure also failed. The media smears and Big Tech censorship failed to silence him.

So the 2018 Hong Kong seizure was not the beginning of a fraud motive, as SDNY prosecutors claimed. It was the CCP’s desperate escalation from civil lawfare to criminal lawfare.

The silver lining is that this desperation exposed the CCP’s deeper network. To hunt Miles Guo, Beijing had to mobilize forces hidden inside America. And the moment it mobilized them, it exposed them.

The CCP may believe the SDNY conviction and 30-year sentence are the final American chapter in its hunt for Miles Guo. But that is not how Guo’s followers, we, the NFSC community, see it.
