@GroverNorquist The only way consumption taxes get rid of poverty is by killing the poor
Get back to me on economic policy when Mississippi is in the top 40 states of gdp per capita
@mtntallpaul It amazes me that people are so stupid or unwilling to change that they see more destruction & human suffering and think "yeah, we're pushing climate in the right direction"
You are so much dumber than the frog in a pot
@big_pedestrian Election results say otherwise
DSA runs the largest city in the country
I know of no libertarian ever elected to anything close to mayor of New york
@rrbelloff@Handre We tax the rich for the same reason people rob banks - it's where the money is
We want to tax disposable income
That is income - taxes- housing - food - utilities - transport - insurance - education
The bet the top 1% have much more than 40% of disposable income
@Handre Starting in the 70's the gov started a much more powerful social experiment - it reduced the % of gdp going to wages every year for 50 yrs. So in 2025, wages as a % of the economy were $2.7Trillion lower than they were in the early 70s. Funnel up dwarfs all social programs
@TacomaSteveG@mattvanswol@TertiusIII Show me the Christian values in how we are treating Samaritans right now & taking food from the mouth of babes
@Twolfrecovery@debora_allen1 The US is the world's largest economy and is broke despite not giving healthcare to immigrant workers.
Care to explain how the US pulled that off?
@JaMikeyMike@jasonc_nc Yep.
It's just not possible to keep things from burning when there are narrow streets and wood or bamboo buildings.
It's not like 1/2 the world's population lives in places like that. If they did, they would have devastating fires like Lahaina. Thank God big trucks protect us.
