The #PSBlackout starts tomorrow!
We want physical games to stay! A digital-only future without ownership & customer protection law is unacceptable!
Log off, don't play, don't purchase, cancel subscriptions, become a ghost, until Sony realize their mistake!
#PhysicalGamesMatter
LET’S NOT PLAY ON PLAYSTATION FOR ONE WEEK. 🎮
Starting tomorrow, August 23 through August 30, let’s support the #PSBlackout campaign.
So for one week:
❌ Don’t play on PlayStation
❌ Don’t buy games
❌ Don’t make in-game purchases
❌ Skip PS Store purchases
❌ Skip logins & purchases
❌ Cancel/avoid subscriptions if you can
📀 Support physical games & preservation
The goal isn’t to hurt developers. It’s to send Sony a clear message:
Gamers still want the choice to own their games.
If you support physical media, join the #PSBlackout from August 2330.
Would you participate? 👇
Sony is moving new PlayStation releases toward digital-only or code-in-box formats after January 2028.
This isn’t just about discs. It’s about ownership, preservation and access.
If a digital store shuts down one day, what happens to the games you paid for?
Some gamers are even considering Switch 2 or PC as alternatives for long-term ownership.
No PlayStation. No Sony game purchases. No in-game spending. August 23–30.
Would you join the #PSBlackout? 🔥
Sony has acknowledged the backlash and says it is moving forward anyway.
That is what the PSN blackout will actually test, can it force Sony to Care

Sony vows to press on with discless plans, saying "digitalization is progressing" across all media despite heavy protest from players. https://t.co/sS4QottjKN
Sony has now acknowledged the backlash over ending physical games.
And it still plans to move forward.
This is exactly why outrage alone isn’t leverage. The PSN blackout only matters if it changes player behaviour, revenue or investor expectations.
Sony CFO Lin Tao says they will not change their plans to end physical disc production and will cautiously move forward with the plan!
"There are various reasons we made this decision, the biggest being that the digitalization of content overall has been progressing, that’s the big factor. It’s not just for PlayStation, but for all kinds of content, digitalization is progressing.
And so when we think about the future–and we put in a lot of thought and time, and we cautiously considered this–and we came to this conclusion, and we’re going to cautiously move this forward. And to this decision, we have received various opinions and people have strong views, and we understand that the community has put forth those views to us.
Games are loved by many people. It’s a form of entertainment that’s loved by people, and it’s connected to people’s fond memories in many cases. And so we understand those emotions. We want to consider that. And in the future digital ecosystem, how do we engage the gamers is something that we would like to continue to explore."

Interesting.
This increases visibility…
But it doesn’t necessarily increase leverage.
Companies respond when incentives change, not when outrage trends.
The #PSBlackout boycott, organized by the game preservation group DoesItPlay? has gathered momentum as more than 345,000 people have signed a petition urging Sony to keep releasing physical PlayStation games 📀
Most people think boycotts succeed because people get angry.
History suggests something far less emotional.
Nike survived.
Bud Light didn’t.
Every successful boycott leaves the same fingerprints.
