POLICE RECRUITMENT: WRITTEN EXAMINATION HOLDS 28–30 APRIL AS PSC WARNS AGAINST SCAMS
The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has scheduled 28th to 30th April 2026 for the conduct of the written examination for applicants seeking enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force as Police Constables, covering both General Duty and Specialist cadres. The exercise will be held at designated centres across the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
Only candidates who successfully passed the physical and credentials screening are eligible to participate in the examination. AIRPORT POLICE COMMAND ARRAIGNS 14 SUSPECTS OVER THEFT OF BUILDING MATERIALS AT MMIA
…CP Ogunbode commends Joint Monitoring Task Force for swift action
The Airport Police Command has arraigned fourteen suspects arrested for stealing building materials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. The suspects were apprehended on April 20, 2026, between 1900hrs and 2000hrs at the Terminal 1 buidling currently undergoing renovation, by the Joint Monitoring Task Force (JMTF), a collaborative security team comprising personnel of the Airport Police Command and other key security agencies, during a routine patrol.
Prior to the arrest, project managers overseeing the renovation works had reported persistent cases of missing building materials within the Terminal 1 axis. This prompted intensified surveillance and patrol operations around the area. On the evening of the incident, credible intelligence revealed the presence of unauthorized individuals within the restricted construction zone, necessitating immediate intervention by security operatives.
Upon arrival at the scene, fourteen suspects, namely Muhammed Sadiq, Aliu Umaru, Nuhu Muhammed, Adam Muhammed, Husaini Garuba, Suleman Umaru, Muhammed Musa, Ali Ali, Haruna Adamu, Umaru Musa, Henry Kumasen, Aliu Umaru, Idris Umaru, and Bakura Mustapha, were apprehended in possession of high-value copper wires, iron components, and other building materials. Further investigation revealed that the suspects gained access to the facility by impersonating construction company staff, thereby breaching established security protocols.
Following due investigation, the suspects were charged before the Magistrate Court for Special Offences, Oshodi, Lagos, on April 21, 2026. Thirteen of the suspects who pleaded guilty were convicted and sentenced to one year and seven months’ imprisonment, while the remaining suspect, who pleaded not guilty, has been remanded in custody with the case adjourned to June 16, 2026.

AIRPORT POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS FORMER EMPLOYEE OF VOVIDA COMMUNICATIONS LTD. OVER THEFT OF EQUIPMENT WORTH N15 MILLION
The Airport Police Command has arrested a suspect involved in the stealing of high-value equipment from his former place of employment, Vovida Communications Limited, an IT solutions company. The suspect, one George Ikpe aged 28, was apprehended on 3rd April 2026 by operatives of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Police Division following diligent intelligence gathering and investigation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect gained unauthorized access to the company’s premises, located along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport axis, and made away with critical equipment. A thorough review of the company’s CCTV footage clearly captured the suspect’s movements and aided in confirming his identity.
Items stolen include two custom-made Vovida Central Processing Units (CPUs) valued at ₦10,357,000 (Ten Million, Three Hundred and Fifty-Seven Thousand Naira) and one high-end printer valued at ₦4,715,000 (Four Million, Seven Hundred and Fifteen Thousand Naira), bringing the total value of stolen items to approximately ₦15,072,000.
Further investigation led to the recovery of the stolen CPUs on the disclosure of the suspect. However, the high-end printer had already been sold prior to his arrest. The suspect stated that he committed the crime as an act of revenge following the termination of his employment with the company.
The Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke Mnips, PhD stated that the Command will not back down on ensuring criminal elements have no safe haven within the airport and its environs. She also stated that the suspect will be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction upon the conclusion of investigations.
CP Olufunke further urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities and criminal incidents to the nearest police division, noting that timely reporting greatly enhances swift response and recovery efforts.

AIRPORT POLICE COMMAND INTERCEPTS 14-YEAR-OLD IN STOWAWAY ATTEMPT AT MURTALA MUHAMMED INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The Airport Police Command has intercepted a 14-year-old male, identified as Eke Miracle, in connection with a stowaway attempt at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos on Monday 30th March, 2026. The minor was discovered on the airport tarmac while attempting to unlawfully gain access beneath an aircraft, an act which constitutes a serious breach of aviation security protocols within a highly sensitive operational environment.
Preliminary findings indicate that the juvenile unlawfully entered a restricted area of the airport without authorization, contrary to Sections 2 and 3 of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) byelaws, and engaged in actions consistent with a stowaway attempt.
Upon interception, the minor was taken into protective custody in line with due process and established child protection procedures. His parents were promptly notified, and all necessary protocols were observed, including the conduct of the interview process in the presence of his parents. The Command also ensured that the minor was provided with appropriate care, support, and welfare considerations throughout the process.
The Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, Mnips, PhD, reiterated the Command’s unshaken resolve to safeguarding the nation’s aviation infrastructure, describing the airport as a critical national asset that requires strict adherence to security regulations at all times.
While emphasizing that due process will be strictly followed, CP Ogunbode urged parents and guardians to exercise greater vigilance over their children and wards, particularly in relation to movements around restricted and high-risk environments such as airports.
The Command further notes that the case will be handled in accordance with applicable juvenile justice procedures, and the minor will be charged before the appropriate juvenile court.

The Airport Police Command is set to join the rest of the Nigeria Police Force in commemorating National Police Day 2026, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.” In line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, the Command is poised to leverage the celebration as an opportunity to strengthen engagement with the public and further reinforce trust within the aviation community and beyond.
A series of activities have been outlined to mark the occasion, beginning with a sanitation and environmental cleaning exercise on Monday, 30th March 2026. This will be followed by a walkathon on Tuesday, 31st March 2026. On Wednesday, 1st April 2026, the Command will embark on public sensitization campaigns, including targeted engagement with drivers and other key stakeholders within the airport environment.
As part of efforts to honour the sacrifices of fallen heroes, cheques will be presented to families of deceased officers on Thursday, 2nd April 2026. The celebration will culminate in a grand finale on Tuesday, 7th April 2026, featuring a ceremonial parade, tactical displays, and other activities at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
