Today marks an important step in how we think about the future of Nigeria’s renewable energy infrastructure.
The launch of the special purpose vehicle, the Renewable Asset Management Company (RAMCO) is not just about creating a new institution.
Over the years, government, through institutions like the REA, has deployed significant renewable energy infrastructure across education, healthcare, communities and other public assets. RAMCO has been established as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to provide a dedicated institutional framework for managing these assets more strategically, improving their sustainability, unlocking capital recycling and creating opportunities for further private sector participation.
I am particularly pleased to see this being driven in partnership with the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) and InfraCorp, with the support of the Honourable Ministers of Power, Finance, Education and Health. The collaboration reflects the fact that renewable energy assets cut across sectors, and their impact goes far beyond electricity alone.
But the launch is only the beginning.
Our immediate next step is to begin the detailed evaluation of the assets that will be considered for transfer under the RAMCO framework, understanding their condition, performance, revenue potential, operational requirements and what is needed to make each asset more sustainable.
For me, that is where the real work begins.
We have spent years building these assets. Now, we have to build the systems that will ensure they continue working, growing and creating value for Nigerians.
And I am excited about what comes next.
The work continues.
