@CareyGercarey@Jamespkel@john_mcguirk I know that now. When this was all happening we weren't given much info about him except that he had a previous conviction of some sort. It's a little bit late to be talking about this because I didn't have a crystal ball๐คฃ
@100_to_30@john_mcguirk A women would more likely be picked because she could be overpowered easier than a man because women aren't as physically strong
@2cruel4skool@Limerick_chicky@john_mcguirk As I said its not about men being bad it's about women being physically weaker. It would make sense that a women would be more likely to be attacked because she could be overpowered easier than a man.
@PardaSabandija@john_mcguirk But maybe the charities are doing it wrong. Maybe what we need changed are legislation? Maybe if someone does a violent crime they should be kept in prison?
@100_to_30@john_mcguirk I never said its alright for men. As I said in another comment I don't hate men or anything like that. If you are right and men are more likely to get assaulted then why are women being told not to walk alone and not men?
@2cruel4skool@Limerick_chicky@john_mcguirk I have not heard of as many men getting attacked by a stranger. If someone else picking who to attack and they see a woman or a man they would pick a woman because she would be easier to overpower thanks to her strength or height most of the time.
@PardaSabandija@john_mcguirk Who ever said money was needed? A change in laws would work better and maybe some improvement with the gardai because they caught the wrong person and now there is a murderer on the loose.
@padrqig@ChrisDo23740504@john_mcguirk That's why I study law. I want to make some kind of difference because the justice system in this country isn't the best. The more I study it the more I see flaws.
@2cruel4skool@Limerick_chicky@john_mcguirk It's very different though. To compare fights with attacks by strangers. Statistically women are more likely to be attacked by a stranger. Fighting is a whole different issue and it isn't related to Aisling murphy
@PardaSabandija@john_mcguirk Just because somewhere else is worse does not mean anyone should care less about here. That's a very dismissive way of looking at it. There are always going to be worse places.
@john_mcguirk I don't agree with the all men are bad narrative either. I just think something should be done to improve the safety of women on the street. It can be quite scary walking back from lidl with bags to my college apartment in the evening as a 5 foot 19 year old, yk?
@poeatures @john_mcguirk What about the fact he committed previous violent offences and was know to the Gardai? Don't act like this couldn't have been prevented
