#UPDATE Lee was not arrested and has been released. She said police drove her to a side street and waited there for their force’s clarification on a movement restriction order imposed on Lee following the Article23 arrest. The order didn’t cover Wan Chai and has lapsed, Lee said.

Lee Ying-chi’s been taken away by police from Wan Chai MTR station. 1st known detention on July 1, a day of increased repressive measures. Lee was arrested in May for sedition in connection w/ posts re June 4 on a social media account related to political prisoner Chow Hang-tung.

There were so many people — 1.03 million — in the peaceful march that, in the evening — 5 hours after the march began, the starting point at Causeway Bay was still packed with people waiting for their turn to set off (video).

この5年間で死んだ香港人を覚えていますか？抗議自殺、不審死、デモでの転落死。私達が忘れ、行動も止めてしまったら、彼らは何の為に死んだのでしょうか。

彼らは後に残る人に希望を託し、香港を託し、死んでいきました。自分の命で人々を動かせると信じて死にました。

だからどうか、残された者として行動して欲しいです。抗議自殺した香港人のメッセージを受け取って下さい。

5年前の2019年6月9日、香港で抗議活動が始まりました。

以降、香港人だけではなく世界中の人々が共感し、彼らと共に声を上げました。

私もそのうちの1人です。

急速に失われる自由の中でも、出来ることを模索し、諦めることなく今も声を上げる香港人が世界中にいます。

光復香港 時代革命

私たちがやっていることの多くは無意味で目的がないように思えるかもしれませんが、過去5年間で学んだ多くのことの中で、私は自分の不安や不確実性と共に生きることに慣れてきました。毎日が幸せである必要はなく、すべてが成功する必要もなく、すべてが即座に結果を出す必要もありません。今見えるものに縛られないことで、より自由な未来を想像する権利を得るのです。

今日は新宿に来てくれた皆さん、そして世界中の集会に参加してくれた友人たち、本当にありがとうございました。どこにいても、私たち香港人は恐怖と苦痛だけでなく、希望と回復力によってもつながっていることを、皆さんに保証します。

Much of what we do may seem fruitless and aimless, but over the past five years, I've learned to live more comfortably with my anxiety and uncertainty. Not every day has to be happy, and not everything needs to yield instant results. By freeing ourselves from the constraints of the present, we can imagine a more liberated future.

Thank you again to everyone who joined us in Shinjuku today, and to friends who participated in rallies around the world. I assure all Hongkongers that, no matter where we are, we remain connected not just by fear and pain, but also by hope and resilience.
