(THING Team)
Some people have been asking what THING is, so I’m just going to quickly explain what it is and what our plans are for it.
THING is a privately owned LLM that we started developing in December 2024. We created it to join the AI wave and build our own model, which we originally planned to release publicly around the middle of 2025.
Unfortunately, during training, our funding fell short as larger companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic were showing greater results than our model.
Instead of throwing months of work down the drain, we decided to come back to our roots, this X page, where we first tried to gain funding through a crypto token that did not do well.
We are now here to try to raise the funding needed to finish THING and finally make it public.
We believe our model is like no other and could help a lot of people. We also need people to help train THING, so very soon the THING website will be live, where everyone will be able to contribute to THING’s development completely free of charge.
We’re also putting plans in place to make early access to the model token-gated through this token.
The idea is that holders would get access to early builds, testing phases and new model releases before they’re opened up more widely.
Still working through the exact structure, but that’s the direction we’re heading.
Hey everyone, quick update on the model.
We originally started training this model around late 2024. The first plan didn’t really work out the way we expected by the time we were getting somewhere, OpenAI had already moved much faster in the same direction and it became pretty obvious how hard it was going to be to raise funding for another small AI startup in this space.
We’ve still kept training and developing the model since then, but funding has been the biggest limitation.
After speaking with a lot of people and exploring different routes, we’ve decided to start moving the project’s development and training funding over to @RobinhoodCrypto.
The goal now is simple: keep training, keep improving the model, and build it somewhere we actually have room to grow.
