🇮🇳 World Champion Gukesh D is being honored with the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2024, the highest sporting honor in India 🙌👏

This remarkable achievement was conferred by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in recognition of Gukesh’s outstanding contributions and achievements in chess.

@DGukesh is only the second chess player in India’s history to receive this honor. The first was 5-time World Champion Vishy Anand (@vishy64theking), who was also the inaugural recipient of this prestigious award!

Gukesh was recognized for his extraordinary performance in 2024, which included:
• Winner of the FIDE World Championship Match held in Singapore.
• Gold medal in the FIDE 45th Chess Olympiad (Open Team) held in Budapest.
• Gold medal in the FIDE 45th Chess Olympiad (Individual) held in Budapest.
