You can hide behind your social media profile because you know deep down you could never go to the Minneapolis VA and read this aloud to his coworkers.
Shame on you. Veterans deserve better.
Today, I knocked on ICE’s door.
“ICE is circling the block outside my school,” my friend, a teacher, texted me earlier today.
An elementary school.
After the killing of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, I know I took a risk in tapping on ICE’s window. I urge you to please use caution when approaching ICE and do so at your own risk.
But I wanted to talk to them. I wanted to know who these masked, anonymous people are. ICE didn’t want to talk to me. They ran away rather than have a normal conversation.
Armed, masked individuals in large SUV’s with tinted windows, who refuse to identify themselves. What justifies this? These are not the “worst of the worst.” These are children, teachers, and their parents.
I planned to make an ice cream to memorialize and celebrate the life of Renee Goode.
But after the murder of Alex Pretti this weekend, I didn't have it within me to make ice cream.
It's clear that the murders of Renee and Alex AND the government's lies were not a mistake, but standard operating procedure.
ICE must be defunded and disbanded.
I don’t care if you agree or disagree with Ilhan Omar.
Tonight you should respond one way, this was potentially dangerous what happened to her tonight and must be condemned.
The White House, Tom Emmer and others should speak in support of her tonight, not on policy, but on safety
I support cleaning house at DHS.
Greg Bovino should be fired.
Kristi Noem should be fired.
Stephen Miller should be fired.
But none of those things alone will fix ICE – a new figure will take their place, and nothing will change unless Congress exerts some muscle here.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has hit out at Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem over the ongoing ICE operations in Minneapolis. He told Anderson Cooper: "I'm not sure there's been anybody more incompetent or cruel that's ever served in a cabinet position than her."
Governor @Tim_Walz has been an incredible leader for our state and a great friend. I’m glad he’s running for re-election. Delivering results is hard work. But that’s what he has done, and what I know he’ll continue to do.
I’m running for reelection to continue serving as Governor of Minnesota.
We’ve made historic progress in our state, but we’re not done yet. I’m staying in the fight — and I need you with me.
I joined eight former CDC directors—spanning Republican and Democratic administrations—to share this warning: our nation’s health is at risk.
The very systems that protect us from disease, cancer, and future health threats are being dismantled. https://t.co/PIHGQW13BN
This is a disgraceful and heinous comment, beneath the dignity of a United States Senator.
Completely unhinged, abhorrent, and divorced from reality.
You need to take this down, Senator Lee, and apologize publicly at minimum.
This is exactly the kind of dangerous and harmful rhetoric we need everyone to call out and condemn.
This is the watershed moment where things need to change.
This was posted one day after my friend — one of Minnesota’s elected representatives — and her husband were assassinated in a politically-motivated attack. One day after another elected representative and his wife took 17 bullets from the assassin.
We cannot accept this from a sitting United States Senator. Everyone – on both sides of the aisle – needs to condemn this.
We cannot normalize political violence in America.
Hard not to see this as anything other than the horrifyingly natural end result of the last two decades of political discourse - amplified by social media and unlimited spending - that casually calls its political opponents not just wrong, but evil.
I covered Rep. Melissa Hortman for years, including her rise to lead MN House Democrats that eventually made her House Speaker.
She was unfailingly kind & gracious with her time plus a wry sense of humor. She was respected by lawmakers in both parties and beloved by her staff.
This is shocking, shameful and beyond disrespectful. Trump's administration has no respect for our constitution, our system of checks and balances or the rule of law. Everyone should condemn this.
Reminder: While Trump spends over $45 million on a military parade for himself today, his administration is actively working to fire 80,000 employees and veterans from the VA.
