Modern badminton started around 1867 in Poona, India, where British army officers turned an old pastime into a competitive game by adding a net. They called it “Poona,” & later brought it to England, introducing it around 1873 at the Duke of Beaufort’s estate, “Badminton House.”

The game soon took the estate’s name, becoming “badminton,” and moved from a colonial pastime to a popular English sport.

The first All England Open Badminton Championships were held in 1899, with just three events: Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.

The Sinner doping ban seems quite ridiculous and off! Didn’t know you could reach a settlement or agreement when it came to doping bans. Sinner will be back “conveniently” just in time for the French open. This is setting such a bad precedent!
