Nobody asked for this advice but I'm still putting it out there. Upcoming filmmakers in India — especially Malayalam and South Indian cinema — should focus more on writing a damn good script and work with talented actors who don't have the burden of the SUPERSTAR persona — at least when they're starting out. Later, maybe move on to the bigger names, provided those names aren't the interfering types whose EGO comes above everything else and, in the process, dilute the script's strong essence. But even if they're willing to cooperate, there are some who are too concerned about what their "fans" want and steer clear of bold experiments, which is another challenge.
