There wasn’t a world wide announcement when the British pound was no longer the world reserve currency. Looking back it happened sometime between Brenton Woods and the Suez Canal crisis. But most of the world was unaware and kept living their lives. The dollar likely dies in a whimper most people don’t even realize.
