Milk residue creates a breeding ground for bacteria and once the milk proteins adhere to the sides, they’re difficult to get off!❌
Follow rinse, soak, scrub, wash, rinse, dry steps ✅
Approx 50% of calf deaths are due to poor hygiene! ❌
Bacteria could come from the calving area, the calf’s pen, poor colostrum management, feeding equipment and staff! 😨

Calves less than a month old will suffer the most with the current cold snap!
✔Ensure they have deep, dry bedding
✔Calf jackets are a great option
✔Increase milk feeding
❌Don't close up houses/restrict ventilation to try and increase temperature in the house.
