First day of Fall classes at @SyracuseU! I've been back for a few months @NewhouseVIS teaching grad students and military folks, but now the semester is really in swing. Exciting and humbling to be back teaching (and studying!) where I was during undergrad.
Newsprint fades and degrades over time too, everything is subject to entropy. But I wish we put the same effort into archiving our digital histories as our printed ones.
Always keep a personal archive... just tried to find some work I did for @washingtonpost on their website and it simply appears to not exist online in any form from them anymore. Thankfully I have personal backups, but the actual record of that journalism isn't readily available.
One of the videos I can't find online any longer won me and the paper a national Murrow award. I remember being bummed at the time that I didn't get to keep the actual award — it was preserved in a glass case in the newsroom — but I guess the work itself couldn't be preserved.
