Don't be a rubbish visitor this summer!
The Countryside Code - created by the Yorkshire Land Network - features young rangers exploring the countryside, seeing some unpleasant sights and advising on how you can avoid some common mistakes.
Small actions make a big difference🙂

A litter picker found a cd, cassette, beer bottles, a baby's hat and a paint roller. Thank you to all of the litter pickers we have in Ryedale. We appreciate your efforts. ⭐

@cleanupbritain@NicholasHellen We've found dozens of abandoned batteries, presumably from roadworks, around the A64 roundabout at Old Malton, North Yorkshire
Anyone else finding discarded block batteries like these on their #litter picks? Likely discarded by highways workers, along with all the cones, signs and sandbags (costing ££££). Bad for the environment. @cleanupbritain
@cleanupbritain@LGAcomms Volunteers from @maltontidygroup forever gathering up abandoned traffic signage, cones and sandbags (must be costing a fortune). Lots scattered around the A64 #Malton including dozens of 4R25 block batteries @HighwaysYORKS
@ajcroser@northyorksc@East_Riding@RyedaleDC@cleanupbritain @maltontidygroup The scourge of the countryside. Fly tipping tyres and mattresses is bad enough but the smaller items can all be taken home and binned, instead they’re blown around and left for someone else to pick up. Can only hope the ban on single use plastics and deposit return scheme helps.
Happy 35th Birthday to our neighbour and fellow protected landscape, @Howardian_Hills 🥳
