The recent news that Manchester United are linked with Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton doesn’t excite me. We’ve been here too many times.

Last season United were linked with Elliot Anderson all campaign, only to decide he was too expensive in the summer. Whatever excuses the media offered.

The pattern is simple: show interest in quality, proven players during the season, then sign cheaper and less proven options when the window opens.

Do you still take this board seriously? I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

United have missed out on world-class players too many times. Top talents have rejected the chance to play at Old Trafford in the past.

Now it’s reached the point where they are losing their own talented youngsters for the same reason.

No clear pathway. No strong project. No reason for the best players to stay.
