@Kellblog Super helpful for those of us who started our careers in professional services, one of the few contexts in which ‘pacesetting’ works. Was transformational reading for me in 2008, fresh out of McKinsey.
@ChrisHeaslip I think it started well before COVID. Culture clearly shifted from priority on customers to priority on near term profitability - and delivered what was intended tbf. COVID exacerbated issue.
@JemTraylen@MBIEgovtnz Follow up question @JemTraylen : I’d be interested in more insight on the underlying drivers. Many would seem to be more driven by the ambition, complexity, and efficiency of govt programs rather than population. Eg more people doesn’t require more policy analysts does it?
@markmacleod_ I switched to green tea + citrus first think in the morning. Feels lighter and more clear headed. Still enjoy a coffee but it’s not a dependency to jumpstart the day.

@EricCrampton@NZGreens And it still doesn’t include the trust tax that applies from the first dollar! Estimated 300-500k trusts in NZ. Reasonable people can disagree about policy but let’s start with the correct facts…
