Happy to have been able to help contribute to this newsletter and to highlight @KansasCity and @QuintonLucasKC's leadership on new models for supporting large-scale transit and infrastructure investments!
Re-upping this great eulogy to East Bay Baseball on a sad day for Oakland. If Major League is ever rebooted it will just be a documentary about John Fisher, the worst owner in professional sports.

A pretty good list! Thanks to a great Mayor, strong allies on city council, and a lot of very hardworking staff and advocates who pushed to get things done.
Just received my update on legislation I have filed since starting this gig. I’ll pull up my City Council era classics too some day, but a lot of good progress here for the people of Kansas City and surrounds!
The wins keep coming for Kansas City. Out of 300+ applications nationwide, we were selected as one of 31 communities to be designated a Tech Hub by the @CommerceGov . This means millions in federal investment and thousands of jobs in bio manufacturing from Columbia to Manhattan.
Honored to join my sister @saintlouismayor and a distinguished panel today at the Kauffman Foundation as part of the Accelerator for America convening. We are talking economic development, particularly in communities which have historically been left out. Great plans ahead.
I’ll say this after 2.5 months of public service:
Anyone doing policy research should spend time as a public official. Policy making and execution are far different beasts than research.
We may look back at the American Rescue Plan Act’s COVID-19 relief program as not simply an economic recovery effort, but a down payment on a more prosperous future for America’s local economies, @laveabrachman, @joeparilla, @GlencoraH & @ajherrma write. https://t.co/j4oGP5XJ2r
Very proud of this project and grateful to get the chance to collaborate with awesome researchers at Brookings to highlight the good work being done by many of AFA's Mayors with their ARPA relief funds.
New analysis with @USAccelerate and @NACoTweets show how local governments are using the $130 billion from the American Rescue Plan Act’s (ARPA) COVID-19 state and local funding toward housing, infrastructure, and neighborhood revitalization needs. https://t.co/j4oGP5XJ2r
Glad to see some national attention on 71 Highway. Every city has their version of this story, proud that @USAccelerate was able to help @QuintonLucasKC get some federal funding to begin to address this long-standing challenge. https://t.co/rqqSEiMO0g
Very excited to see BAM/WOW's expansion into KC by @YG_KansasCity profiled as a promising case study by @Results4America. Big props to Exec Director Garrett Webster and local champions @GreenLightKCI and @QuintonLucasKC https://t.co/Z6hgMiJk1s
New research from our partners @DrexelLab on trends in investor purchases of single-family homes, data from Philadelphia suggests they are heavily concentrated in minority/low-income neighborhoods at purchase prices far lower than individual-individual sales.
Our new report w/ @DrexelLab & @reinvestfund reveals striking findings: homes which sold from an owner-occupant to an investor off the MLS sold for 51% LESS than comparable homes sold on the MLS to an individual.
