@QueuesPub You DO have to steel yourself to do it, as all your polite instincts are to quietly join the single filer. I had to think what I'd say if challenged by the liners so as to minimise friction.

@QueuesPub It unites all correct-thinking pubgoers. I recently skipped a single filer straight to the long, empty bar. Got a few tuts and one "excuse me, there's a queue". I said "oh sorry, I didn't know what you were doing, it's a pub?". Bar worker smiled at me and I got served immediately
