No one is making this IPS vs CAPF. The demand is far simpler.
CAPF officers also enter through Union Public Service Commission as Group A. They are not asking to sit over IPS or replace anyone.
They are asking for what every other Group A service already has
fair career progression
Non-Functional Financial Upgradation (NFFU)
Organised Group A Service (OGAS) status
(Already SC decision in their favor)
IPS officers serve across departments on deputation, states, CBI, IB, MHA. CAPF officers are not even asking anything at par with IPS.
If you feel UPSC CSE is a superior exam , let it be. Let's agree to that.
They are simply saying
give us growth within our own cadre
This is not rivalry.
This is basic fairness.
Let them have their own cadre officers
Which cannot happen overnight but is a gradual process that should be started now.
