Turning 24 has already taught me so much. Like if I mention it's my birthday on a work call, people think I'm some sort of productive God for sitting idle at my keyboard praying that some code will work
This week I am exclusively working on my code. Writing the first few classes and I'm proud of how far I've come in the past year. I was so worried at the start of my PhD that my technical skills wouldn't be good enough, but I've worked hard and now my code is just barely readable
Considering applying for a #PhD straight from your Masters study? Bit worried about the workload and pace?
"I hope this short passage has given anyone considering taking a position here at the DA CDT the reassurances they might need." Thanks Adam! 😀

Today's (and yesterday's) job has been trying to figure out a bizarre interaction with PyTorch and CUDA drivers which resets memory cache limits to a whopping 0 [zero] bytes after every successful script. Does anyone reckon an RTX3080 is covered by EPSRC funding?
Having lost my glasses and waiting on replacements, if anyone wants tips on injecting some excitement into your life: try crossing roads in Liverpool with partial sight.

Taking a few days for myself. Didn't realise how much pressure I had been putting on myself to get stuff done consistently. Much needed chill time playing Skyrim, taking walks and eating way too much. We go again next week
Student Stories: Read the thoughts of Cohort 2 student @ajl_1998 on his transition from Masters to #PhD
Was it difficult? How does a masters and PhD differ? What's it like working within the CDT and cohort environment?

Nursing an infected insect sting, in considerable pain and on a course of antibiotics. Which I think is the universe telling me I get to eat take-away for the entire week. Lovely stuff :)
No real work for me today, taking a day for myself. Which I have quickly found is way more worthwhile than forcing myself into doing things I'm not up for. Doesn't mean I can't be productive, getting my laundry done and cleaning my flat. Happy Friday everyone!
