@nomorefielders Trying to not cling too much to recent results:
Closers: Chapman, Jhoan Duran
Starters: Skubal, Miz, Chase Burns for carving up hitters
Cris Sanchez, Max Fried, Zach Wheeler, even Sandy for just always hitting their spots
& that’s how to answer a “most” question w/ 10 names
@nomorefielders Not one mention of Shohei in these comments yet
Echo all the Yordan mentions
To a lesser degree wanna mention Stanton (every swing looks like a HR), Harper (clutch gene), Soto (total hitting aficionado), and James Wood (explosive)
@qschneid14@CBoxTrace This isn’t even really the point. The point is Friedl’s an 8 hitter. Even if it isn’t perfect, McLain or Elly would be much more appropriate to get the most ABs for this team. I’d prefer Elly -> McLain -> Sal for the top 3.
@PBrennanENQ Narrative of improved fielding still stands, but that Elly boot vs Willson Contreras in Game 3 vs BOS really could’ve been an error. I thought @RedsCowboy was gonna lose his mind on the radio call at that being scored a hit.
@autyelmore Maybe for future seasons, but I’m not sure I follow the logic here. If anything it’s a sign they want Mey & Maxwell to keep working in AAA.
@ato16mep@RedsInFour@Dbacks Saw what Sheldon wrote, I can't really believe the team has Lowder over Burns in pecking order. Willing to be wrong, but I bet they have tons of belief in Burns the starter. If one is in a swing role or is in AAA, I bet it's Lowder
@CBoxSports@Nicholaspkirby@Nicholaspkirby any consideration for moving Elly down a bit vLHP? I know Tito won't, but curious what you think. I'm to the point where I'd like his OPS at .650-.675 at LEAST vLHP to stay in the 3 hole. .618 in '25. 64 wRC+. Not sure he needs more ABs vLHP than Sal, Steer, Geno
@JayRBP Sometimes (often) I lament that the Reds didn’t have better luck in the 2023 lottery. Without saying anything at all about Lowder, Langford would’ve been the best addition imaginable to this team
@MoEgger Trading impending free agent for controllable/talented players is good process for any team. Folks act like the only good options are extending deep into his 30s (likely overpaying), or losing him in free agency for nothing
This is not a flaw of baseball. Just team building
@Soly_Reds Even in an alternate reality where the Brewers theoretically could and should pony up the $ for Peralta, it always circles back to “teams should just pay all their good players before they reach free agency!” which is just not the big brain take they think it is.
@RedsDaily4 Not just deciding either. Shouting it from the rooftops like it is some badge of honor that they'll struggle to produce runs. I don't get it
@bryce_spalding Higher:
Spencer Steer.
Also… Elly?
Lower:
Abbott, but every time he somehow wiggles his way out of trouble ~somehow~ my heart softens for him a bit.
Have also seen some saying Pagan and I completely agree
