Postgres 18 turns data checksums on by default at initdb.

pg_upgrade needs both clusters on the same setting, so a pre-18 one won't upgrade into a default 18. Either pg_checksums with downtime, or initdb the new one --no-data-checksums.

The easy path opts you back out of it.

The IETF is rewriting DKIM. Draft 6 of the DKIM2 spec went up 28 August.

One signature becomes a chain of custody. Every hop signs, and anything that changes the message publishes what it changed and a new hash.

Which makes ARC dead weight. Forwarding stops being an edge case.

The Play Store target API deadline was 31 August. Extensions run out 1 November.

API 36, new apps and updates both. Miss it and nothing gets rejected, your app just stops being visible on any OS newer than what you target.

Going invisible is worse. Nobody emails you about it.

Flutter 3.47 made header: true a no-op on iOS and Android.

Still compiles, nobody catches it in review, the accessibility is just gone. headingLevel above 0 now maps to setHeading and UIAccessibilityTraitHeader.

A breaking change that doesn't break the build is the worst kind.

Postgres 18 quietly changed what GENERATED ALWAYS AS means.

Write it with no keyword and you get a VIRTUAL column now. Computed on read, no storage. Before 18 the only kind that existed was STORED.

Same migration file, different table depending on which major ran it.

With all these agentic capabilities, there is more to unlock on both performance and UX.

@imadetheseworks I have been trying KMP + SwiftUI and it is close to best of both worlds. All logic is not duplicated but the UI experience is native.

Flutter still makes sense if they can keep with dart native.

The reason why Flutter seems outdated is because iOS just did a major revamp (1/2)

Electron became standard so that they can ship cross platform without worrying about duplicating logic or release cadence.

@claudeai CC makes this extremely hard as it shares the same setting to other sessions.
