Happy #FathersDay. On this occasion I remember my late father Shamsul Huda Shams former leader of #Afghanistan Social Democratic Party. He devoted his entire life to bringing #peace, #justice and #democracy in #Afghanistan. He is no longer with us but his mission is neverending.
Please read my recent article in @arabnews on the need for change in #Afghanistan. We cannot remain isolated from the rest of the world for ever. @a_siab@antonioguterres@unit

I am sharing the official response from His Excellency President Donald Trump @realDonaldTrump to my letter regarding the recent tragic events in Washington, D.C., involving an #Afghan national. As we all know, the Afghan community in the United States, along with Afghans worldwide, has strongly condemned the attack on the National Guard—an act that in no way reflects the peaceful character of the Afghan nation.
First, I wish to express my gratitude to President Trump for his reply to my message. His response provides a broad overview of the US foreign policy, which is guided by the principles of America First and the safeguarding of U.S. national interests. With respect to Afghanistan, the key takeaway is clear: Afghanistan’s importance to the United States is defined by its national interests—a position that is both reasonable and consistent with the rights of any sovereign nation.
Ultimately, the future of #Afghanistan must be determined by Afghans themselves. It is not the duty of the international community to build our country; that responsibility rests with us Afghans.
I am very grateful to our @SDGAdvocates for helping us keep the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals — A better future for all on a safe & healthy planet.
My message is simple: Never give up.
This is the moment to fight for equity, justice & equality.

I have returned to Cox’s Bazar to shine a global spotlight on the plight of more than one million Rohingya refugees – but also their potential.
They are proud. They are resilient.
And they need the world’s support.
The threat of ecological devastation from the twin climate and biodiversity crises is a burden we have placed on the children of our planet. I was honored to join @Pontifex at the World Leaders Summit on Children's Rights to discuss how to build a better future for them.
The climate crisis is real. It drives deadly heatwaves, dangerous conditions, and destructive extreme weather events that are harming the American people and public health, damaging American businesses and communities, and destroying lives and livelihoods. Last year was the hottest year on record, and climate-fueled extreme weather events cost our country $222 billion.
But the political leadership at the EPA reportedly wants to throw away the agency’s long-standing conclusion that greenhouse gas pollution endangers the American people. In doing so, they would ignore the blindingly obvious reality of the climate crisis that we can all see all around us. And they would be disregarding the EPA’s own scientists and lawyers in favor of the interests and profits of the fossil fuel industry.
Weakening safeguards that the EPA has put in place to reduce greenhouse gas pollution would also harm American competitiveness in a global economy that is moving away from oil, gas, and coal. Doing so would harm the communities that suffer from the dirty co-pollutants of the burning of fossil fuels and hurt the American people who will continue to face the worsening impacts of the climate crisis as long as we continue to enable the fossil fuel industry to use our sky as if it were an open sewer.
Equality for women and girls is a human right.
It is a matter of justice.
It is the foundation of sustainable development and lasting peace.
And it is essential for humanity.
Happy International Women's Day! Although a lot of progress has been made, the struggle continues, including in #Afghanistan and #Iran. In many countries, women struggled for their rights and achieved success. They can, too.
In my recent article in the @arabnews I have discussed the developments in Afghanistan since the fall of the republic and the need for Afghan-owned peaceful movement for change. @a_siab

STARLINK’S NEXT BIG THING: CELL SERVICE FROM SPACE
SpaceX is testing a game-changing Starlink upgrade: Direct-to-Cell satellites that connect mobile phones to cellular service anywhere on Earth—even in the middle of nowhere.
These satellites act as “cell towers in space,” letting you text, call, or browse without needing a signal from ground towers. No new phone or hardware required!
The beta starts Jan. 27 and aims to eliminate dead zones worldwide, making it possible to call for help, no matter where you are.

"Earth is becoming hotter and more dangerous for everyone, everywhere.
Billions of people are facing an extreme heat epidemic.
And we know it's going to get worse."

Earth is becoming hotter and more dangerous for everyone, everywhere.
@UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres urges a concerted effort to address extreme heat by protecting the vulnerable, using data-driven solutions, and phasing out fossil fuels.
