On this day in 1959, A.J. Muste—our namesake—participated in the campaign, 'Omaha Action: Nonviolence Against Nuclear Missile Policy,' organized by the Committee for Nonviolent Action (CNVA). His act of civil disobedience is a powerful example of his lifelong commitment to peace and nonviolent resistance.

The mobilization of the Livermore Action Group reminds us of the power of nonviolent civil disobedience in the face of injustice and how this often remains true in current times. Onward!
With the help of a rapid response grant, Carolina for All was able to mobilize against South Carolina’s General Assembly’s plans to fund private prisons and immigrant detention centers. Carolina for All engaged with community leaders, faith leaders and members of impacted communities. They successfully applied pressure to the General Assembly so that the proposal for funding was not prioritized and passed in the session.

Honoring the late Clarence B. Jones, a civil rights activist and close friend of MLK Jr., who contributed to the iconic, 'I Have A Dream' speech.
Clarence B. Jones was a lawyer and a fierce force behind the scenes throughout civil rights history. He fought against discriminatory policies, and contributed to and planned multiple protests and actions including in the racially segregated Birmingham, AL in the 1960s and the March on Washington.
