As at mid 2025, Nigeria has a total of 200billion unclaimed Shares/dividends.

If you are among

📌Those who lost or misplaced their certificates in the past.

📌Those who have lost all info about the shares they bought.

📌Those who have lost access to their broker in the past.

Take the following steps.

Step 1.
Go to the sec portal👇🏾see if dividends are listed under your name

Step2. (Make sure you search with your full name) if your name appears, take note of the current broker in charge of the company.

Step 3. Dedicate a day to go to the NGX office .
Make sure you go with either drivers license,International passport or NIN.

Step 4. You will be asked to provide your CSCS account (Central securities clearing system )and the name of your broker.

Step 5. If you don’t have any of the information on step4 tell the NGX officer that all you have is ID and they will help you run the search.

Step 6. Find out from the NGX officer if your stock broker is still active(only licensed brokers can buy and sell).

Step7. They will demand that you pay 3k to print your CSCS statement.

Step 8. Once you have gotten all the info,use google to get the office address of your broker or phone number .
Plan for a physical meeting
(your broker will advise you on how to get your claims).

If your broker is out of business take the next step .

Step9 . Sign up with a new broker and ask that your inactive broker transfer your shares to the active one.
Once transfer is done, your new broker can sell for you.
This process should take 3 to 4 weeks or less.

Once your stock is sold , you will get an sms from CSCS and your bank will be credited in 2-3 working days.
