Ariana Grande on the flashback to Glinda’s childhood in Wicked: For Good:
“That flashback illuminates Glinda's entire journey. It explains why she needs that validation from others, why she is so desperate for it. That person who we see get abandoned in the flashback, that little Glinda, is who she ultimately ends up reconnecting with to become Glinda the Good. When she puts down the wand in her final speech to speak to the Ozians, she's not just putting down the facade of Glinda the Good. She's putting down the beliefs that were placed upon her. It's really beautiful moment because a lot of what's been placed on her since she was little isn't hers to carry.”
