@alexmassie It is ridiculous to tie the sovereignty of the islands to a football match. However maybe we could compromise on naming rights Ashes-style with it flipping from being the Falklands or Malvinas depending on who won the most recent match.
@JahangirAsgha10 Youth development in the US appears to be about selling a service to rich parents. In the rest of the world it’s about producing a small number of elite players for the professional game and ruthlessly discarding the rest. Both models make money.
@SandblasterSzn You all seem quite keen to get your excuses in now you’ve been eliminated. You would take more than 5 years and would need to abandon the pay to play youth development and closed shop top division for starters.
@wife_geist Pay to play excludes from the outset the large swath of poor kids whose best prospect is football that make up the bulk of other professional leagues players.
@roffe_tom@JFV92 It isnt specifically English either. nor is even it part of the United Kingdon. France (kind of) got round this with a different legal status for some of its overseas possessions.
@StanCollymore A tough watch, and the keeper needed to have a good night to keep us in it at time, but in the end only a decision or two going our way off of nicking a point from Morocco, who are a more than decent side.
@bobdylansbarber@zayizlo Who cares? The way the event is set up the group stage is a semi competitive prequalification party for the fans before the knockout begins for the final 32 teams.
@albertoortegana@LoreCardenasX Its not going to have the same results for everyone for sure but it at least does seem fairly ungimmicky and commonsense
@jmhorp They invented association football and the first ‘international’ was Scotland vs England. It’s inconsistent but it’s been there from the outset
@theiaincameron to be fair its the city centre parking/one way systems at either end thats the painful bit (in particular edinburgh) that actual drive outisde of peak hour is very straightforward
@PintsBeauty But anaemic. Heverlee the quasi-pretend ‘Belgian’ beer from the same brewery is a better pint. St Mungo’s or West 4 from West Brewery better still if sticking with Scottish lagers.
