@AlextheAdm1ral@jakebrand025 The health and safety of drivers, at least from what I have heard, is part of why NASCAR still has postseason: to prevent drivers from racing with significant injuries, which would almost certainly happen under full-season format outright.
@AlextheAdm1ral@jakebrand025 One problem with that: what would recourse be if pts leader at race 19 breaks leg and has to miss next 5 or 6 races. Answer: there wouldn't be any. That driver would be eliminated by the 5 or 6 that they miss. Unless that gets addressed, don't see full-season outright.
@AlextheAdm1ral@jakebrand025 And those drivers that make Chase should be rewarded for a good regular season. That is the point of adding Chase pts to a Chase driver's final regular season pt total. Could also add bonus for wins.
@AlextheAdm1ral@jakebrand025 It sounds like a lot more fans are pushing for a full season. Besides, by having a full season pts within Chase and postseason system, which is what I am in favor of, that would allow drivers to miss a few races and still make the Chase.
@AlextheAdm1ral@jakebrand025 Ten would be my preferred number under this. However, I can live with 12. Either way, don't think number drops from 16 thanks to sponsors wanting to be involved.
@jakebrand025@AlextheAdm1ral This at least would allow NASCAR to still have a postseason while giving those fans that want full-season more of what they want.
@AlextheAdm1ral@jakebrand025 However, I would like to see caution at end of stage, particularly in Cup, moved from end of stage to middle of stage if NASCAR feels like they have to have one, and then they can end stage under green.
@jakebrand025@AlextheAdm1ral Why I am in favor of taking final regular season pts standings, carry those over into Chase, and then add 2000 pts for each driver that gets in, including pts leader. That way pts leads at end of regular season doesn't change.
@AlextheAdm1ral@FreddieKraft@FantasyBosco Ex. 2000 Chase pts for each driver that gets in + final regular season pt total that gets carried over = Chase pts to start Chase.
@AlextheAdm1ral@FreddieKraft@FantasyBosco Got an idea for Chase: instead of reset, why not just add Chase pts for 16 drivers that make it in to final regular season pts and let those pts carry over?
@FantasyBosco@AlextheAdm1ral@FreddieKraft With Steve O'Donnell, maybe they would be more open to this suggestion. They did create the Stage-ending caution rule. So, who knows.
@FantasyBosco Another issue with 2003: Kenseth won early and then didn't try to win rest of way due to pts. Want winning races to matter in championship.
@AlextheAdm1ral@FreddieKraft@FantasyBosco Problems with full-season pts format:
1. Drivers racing with significant injuries because missing a race would result in 0 pts earned. Ex. Broken leg and missing 5 or more races would eliminate driver automatically without recourse.
